Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 170

170 Chapter 170

170.Chapter 170

Even though Zoe was convinced Ophelia hadn’t found out what she did, her nerves were suddenly on edge for no reason.

“Ophelia, you’re going to be gone for so long. Are you going alone?” Victoria asked, her voice tinged with worry and hesitation.

“Just me. I’m going to visit a… friend,” Ophelia hesitated before answering.

Truth was, she’d actually agreed to treat a patient, but after thinking it over, she decided to keep things vague.

Zoe frowned, giving Ophelia a searching look as she asked, “So, what kind of friend are you going to see, Ophelia?”

Ophelia’s eyes grew a shade colder, her tone flat. “That’s personal. You don’t need to know all the details.”

Ophelia didn’t feel the need to tell Zoe everything, especially about something she planned to keep to herself.

Zoe was caught off guard, her face turning a bit pale. She managed an awkward smile and said, “I wasn’t trying to pry, Ophelia. I just care about you, that’s all. If you’re heading out alone, letting the family know would help us not worry.”

“I’ll keep Mom updated,” Ophelia replied, her voice completely cold.

That single line left Zoe speechless, shutting down any more questions she might’ve had.

‘Drop the act. She just wants to snoop on my plans. Why is she so interested in my business anyway?’ Ophelia thought.

Zoe had no choice but to nod, her face turning even paler. “That’s good. At least Mom won’t have to worry.”

Zoe put on her best well-behaved, considerate act, and Victoria gave her a gentle smile to reassure her. “Don’t worry too much, Zoe. I’ll check in with Ophelia every day.”

“Of course, I’m sure Ophelia will come back safe and sound,” Zoe said, her smile all for show while bitterness twisted inside her.

Deep down, she was secretly hoping Ophelia would just disappear for good.

“What’s everyone chatting about?” The rest of the family started coming downstairs and settling in at the table.

Everyone was talking about Ophelia’s upcoming trip to Clearwater City over breakfast.

Oliver looked over at Ophelia, a hint of concern in his eyes, but spoke in a matter-of-fact tone. “Let me arrange a driver for you.”

Someone needed to go with her to make sure she’d be safe and everyone could relax.⚫

“No need, Clearwater City isn’t far, it’s basically the next city over, just a three-hour drive,” Ophelia refused instinctively. If Oliver had someone tag along, he’d probably figure out what she was doing in no time.

Adrian frowned, clearly wasn’t having it. “I’d feel better if someone went with you.”

“Yeah, Ophelia,” Owen insisted, nodding with determination.

Ophelia gave them a reassuring smile. “Seriously, don’t worry. My friend will sort out everything for me once I get there, food, a place to stay, and someone to keep me company.

“You guys can totally relax. And honestly, if I brought a driver along, he’d just be in the way.”

At Ophelia’s words, the dining room fell silent for a moment.

In the end, even though they were worried, everyone respected Ophelia’s choice and let her go by herself.

Watching Ophelia walk away, Zoe felt a surge of pent-up frustration in her chest. ‘Everyone cares so much about Ophelia. Is there anyone who even cares about me?’ she thought bitterly.

‘I really hate Ophelia!’ Zoe seethed inwardly.

By the time Ophelia arrived in Clearwater City, it was already noon.

She decided to grab some lunch first, planning to check on the patient later that afternoon.

Ophelia spotted the restaurant, “Azure Veranda,” and strolled inside.

After ordering, Ophelia leaned back and glanced out the window while she waited. The view was actually pretty decent. But out of nowhere, she felt someone right next to her. She frowned and turned, only to find a shadow looming over her.

Ophelia looked up, meeting Alaric’s dark, myst Successfully unlocked! but be surprised.

“What are you doing here?” Ophelia blurted out, cauyin uni yuaru. Seriously? Bumping into Alaric again? Don’t tell me he’s stalking me or something, she thought.
