Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 173

173 Chapter 173

173.Chapter 173

“We’re not heading back yet. We’ll sign the contract here first,” Alaric said, heading straight for the car.

Ryan couldn’t figure it out. ‘Wasn’t the contract signing scheduled for five days from now?’

‘Everything had already been sorted out, and there weren’t any problems. So why the sudden need to stay?’

Alaric glanced back, saw Ryan still standing there, and snapped, “What, you thinking of changing jobs and working as a doorman here?”

“Oh.” Ryan snapped out of it and hurried over to open the car door for Alaric.

Once they were both settled in the car, Ryan kept sneaking glances at Alaric through the rearview mirror. But faced with Alaric’s frosty stare, he kept his doubts to himself and obediently started fiddling with his phone to sort out the work schedule.

Meanwhile, Ophelia was driving toward her patient’s home.

She couldn’t help replaying what happened with Alaric in her mind, and her expression grew stormy.

‘That guy is just getting more and more impossible, Ophelia thought, feeling speechless.

‘Nope, I really need to keep my distance from him; she told herself.

After a while, Ophelia found her patient’s house with the help of the address.

Staring at the private villa in front of her, she could feel how quiet it was inside. It felt almost deserted.

She walked up, rang the doorbell, and announced herself through the intercom.

Soon, the door opened, and an elderly man in his sixties greeted her. He looked her up and down, his brows furrowed in suspicion.

Ophelia gave Jason a cold, commanding look. “Show me the way,” she said, her voice steely.

Jason frowned, thinking, ‘Is this girl really here to treat Mr. Caldwell? Does she even know what she’s doing?’

Seeing Jason’s hesitation, Ophelia narrowed her eyes and retorted, “You called me here. What, planning to slam the door in my face now?”

Jason’s expression shifted. ‘She may look young, but she’s got some serious nerve, he thought.

After a moment’s pause, Jason stepped aside and said, “Go ahead.”

Once inside the villa, Jason led Ophelia straight to Mr. Caldwell’s room.

“Mr. Caldwell, the doctor is here, but…” Jason hesitated, his expression complicated.

On the bed, the frail old man looked up at Ophelia, his voice barely above a whisper. “Are you Dr. Vossen?”

“I go by Rowle now,” Ophelia said coldly, stepping up to the bedside.

Just as Ophelia pulled the needles from her backpack, Jason leaned in and whispered to Mr. Caldwell, “Mr. Caldwell, maybe we should double-check. She’s so young. Could she really be Dr. Rowle’s apprentice?”

Jason just couldn’t shake the feeling. ‘She doesn’t look like Dr. Rowle at all. And now she’s saying her name is Rowle instead of Vossen? Maybe she’s just an apprentice, he thought.

‘We hired Dr. Rowle, but if all we get is her apprentice, aren’t we getting ripped off?’ Jason worried.

‘And if this apprentice isn’t up to snuff, wouldn’t Mr. Caldwell’s treatment get delayed?’ he fretted.

“I’m the one you called for. Whatever else you want to know, it’s not your concern and I’m not here to explain myself,” Ophelia said, her voice cold as she shot Jason a frosty glare. “Don’t hold up my treatment. You can go.”

“Uh…” Jason looked uncomfortable, instinctively glancing at Mr. Caldwell.
