174 Chapter 174
174.Chapter 174
“I’ll be giving you acupuncture for seven days straight. After that, as long as you take the prescribed medicine for a month, your health will be restored…” After reminding him of a few precautions, Ophelia slung her backpack over her shoulder and walked out.
“Thank you, Dr. Rowle,” Mr. Caldwell said, his voice still weak but sounding a bit more at ease.
Ophelia paused for a moment, then said, “Same time tomorrow.”
“Mr. Caldwell,” Jason said as soon as Ophelia left, hurrying in with concern. “How are you feeling?”
“She’s incredible. That crushing feeling in my chest has eased up a lot. From now on, we must always show Dr. Rowle the respect she deserves,” Mr. Caldwell said, his voice still weak but clearly relieved.
‘She may look young, but she truly lives up to the title of miracle doctor, he thought.
“Yes, Mr. Caldwell,” Jason replied respectfully, sounding a bit apologetic. “I misjudged her because of her age. I never thought she was the real Dr. Rowle.”
‘No wonder she carries herself with such authority. She really is Dr. Rowle,’ Jason thought, feeling a little embarrassed.
‘She’s so young-her future’s wide open!’ he couldn’t help but marvel.
As Ophelia left the villa, she felt lightheaded, her vision swimming in and out.
With a sigh, Ophelia muttered under her breath, “Alaric is such a pain.”
She’d barely eaten anything at lunch, and the acupuncture had drained her. Now she was shaky from low blood sugar.
“Seems like you can’t help but think about me wherever you go. I’m honestly touched,” Alaric’s voice suddenly came from behind, making Ophelia startle.
She looked up and met Alaric’s eyes, which sparkled with playful mischief.
“What are you doing here?” Ophelia frowned, clearly annoyed.
“I came to pick you up,” Alaric said with a shrug, his eyes soft and gentle.
Ophelia frowned, her eyes practically screaming ‘not interested.’ “Pick me up? Seriously?”
‘He actually showed up to pick me up? Is he out of his mind?’ Ophelia thought, completely speechless.
‘Where does he get the confidence to think I’d ever want to see him?’ she scoffed to herself.
“Yeah, I’ve already booked your room and made dinner reservations. Waiting at the hotel was boring, so I figured I’d just come here and wait for you,” Alaric said, laying out his plans in detail. He was really pulling off the caring boyfriend act.
Watching him pour on the sweetness, Ophelia shivered and shot him a look of distaste. “Can you act normal for once? Otherwise, I’ll start thinking you’ve been body-snatched.”
‘He’s suddenly putting on the whole devoted routine? Does he really think I don’t know he’s just a hypocrite-soft on the outside, scheming on the inside?’ Ophelia thought, rolling her eyes.
Alaric smirked, a teasing glint in his eyes. “Guess you’ll just have to get used to me, Ophelia. Honestly, I think I’m totally
normal.”
Ophelia rolled her eyes to herself. ‘Yeah, right. Even he doesn’t believe that, she thought.
“Alaric, just go. I don’t need you to arrange anything for me,” Ophelia said, her eyes frosty as she shut him down flat.
Alaric looked up at her, taking in her determined expression, and let out a silent sigh.
“Alright then, I’ll just stick with you, Ophelia. Whatever you say goes,” Alaric replied, his eyes unwavering. He looked all innocent and agreeable, but you could tell he wasn’t going to budge.
Leaving? Not a chance. He’d switched up his plans just to spend more time with her.
“I don’t want to make plans for you,” Ophelia couldn’t help but glare at Alaric, her tone full of annoyance.
“Sure, works for me,” Alaric said, immediately backing off. “Guess I’ll just tag along with you, Ophelia.”
Ophelia couldn’t help but twitch her lips. ‘Seriously. Alaric? Is it really okay for a big-shot CEO like you to be this clingy?’ she thought, exasperated.
Successfully unlocked!
Alaric just stood there, towering over her with the eye, piciending to wait for her answer. But honestly, like it’d make any difference. He wasn’t going anywhere no matter what she said.
