182 Chapter 182
182.Chapter 182
Declan’s eyes sparkled for a second as he looked at her. There was just something about Ophelia’s confidence. It wasn’t arrogant at all. It just made you trust she’d nail it, no questions asked.
He grinned and nodded. “I’ll let him know. And hey, hope you crush it in the competition.”
“Thanks,” Ophelia said, perfectly polite.
“Hey Declan, Felicity’s about to wrap up her competition overseas. Are you going to pick her up at the airport and throw her
a party?” Daphne suddenly chimed in, her smile just a little too sweet.
Declan shot her a frosty look and said flatly, “No.”
With that, he gave Ophelia a quick nod and walked off.
Daphne just stood there, totally stunned.
‘He just left? Just like that?’ Daphne thought, still in shock.
‘Why isn’t he going to pick her up?’ Daphne wondered, her mind spinning.
Felicity was always saying how close she and Declan were. They were more than friends, but not quite dating. She even said maybe this time, when she got back, they’d finally make it official.
‘But what’s going on now?’ Daphne thought, totally baffled.
Seeing Daphne standing there all spaced out, Ophelia let out a cold snort. “So you don’t just poke your nose into your own class. Now you’re all up in other people’s business too? For someone your age, you sure act like a mother hen. Tsk tsk.”
“Who are you calling a mother hen?” Daphne shot back, her cheeks burning with anger.
“You, obviously.” Ophelia shrugged, feigning innocence. “Who else?”
Daphne put her hands on her hips and lifted her chin.
“You think I actually care if Declan picks up Felicity or not? I’m just giving you a reality check. Quit dreaming. No matter how much you try to get his attention, Declan’s never going to care about you. He and Felicity are meant to be together.” “Didn’t you see he came looking for me?” Ophelia gave Daphne a look reserved for lost causes, like she was babysitting a fool.
‘Seriously, what kind of brain does she have to think I’m the one trying to get noticed?’ Ophelia thought.
“Oh, please, don’t make it sound so noble. If you weren’t always trying to get Declan’s attention, would he even bother with you?” Daphne scoffed, totally convinced it was all Ophelia’s fault.
Ophelia sighed and shook her head. “Being so full of yourself is a sickness, but honestly, with you, I think it’s terminal.” “Wait, who are you calling sick?” Daphne snapped, her face darkening as she gritted her teeth.
Ophelia didn’t even bother replying. She just went back to her seat and started packing up her bag.
“You’re the one who’s sick!” Daphne snapped, storming back to her desk. She was about to head out when Jaxon called,” Daphne, remember, you’re on cleaning duty all week.”
“Come on, that was just something Jameson said off the cuff! Why are you taking it so seriously?” Daphne grumbled, ready to lose it, but Zoe grabbed her arm. “Don’t worry, I’ve got your back.”
Daphne shot her a glare, and Zoe lowered her voice. “If Jameson finds out, you could actually get kicked out of the advanced class. That’s just not worth it.”
Daphne shot Ophelia a furious glare. ‘This is all her fault, she thought bitterly.
