192 Chapter 192
192.Chapter 192
Layla didn’t even get close to Alaric. She almost took a nosedive right there, totally missing his sleeve.
“Oh no!” She tried to pull a fast one, but ended up screwing herself over. This time, she lost her balance and twisted her ankle.
Layla grimaced, clutching her ankle in pain.
“Ah! It hurts!” she wailed, still putting on a show, hoping Alaric would at least glance her way.
But no such luck.
Ophelia and Alaric just walked off, not even sparing her a single glance.
Layla’s gaze turned red with fury, burning with hatred.
‘Damn it, Alaric is nothing like those other rich guys. Whenever I play the damsel in distress, someone always spares me a glance, maybe even says something nice to comfort me, she fumed.
But Alaric only had eyes for Ophelia.
‘Ophelia, what makes you so lucky? Even after I came back to the Vossen family, I still end up beneath your feet; Layla thought, her heart burning with resentment.
‘Why does she always get everything? Why am I always the one left behind?’ Layla fumed, her heart twisting with jealousy and rage.
Her resentment hit its breaking point, and Layla’s eyes darkened with a dangerous, almost murderous intent.
By now, Alaric and Ophelia were already at the parking lot.
“Ophelia, relax. I’m not gonna check out any other girl,” Alaric said, his voice gentle and full of promise.
Seeing how jealous Ophelia was, Alaric couldn’t help but grin, sweetness written all over his face.
‘She got so worked up just now because that fool tried to make a move on me. Ophelia definitely cares about me, he thought, his heart doing a little happy dance.
Ophelia tilted her head, giving Alaric a quick once-over. “Alaric… you good? Whether you look at her or not, what’s it got to do with me?” she said, trying to sound indifferent.
But honestly, hearing him act so loyal made her feel kinda nice inside, even if she wouldn’t admit it.
Truth was, Alaric hadn’t even spared Layla a glance, and that had actually put Ophelia in a pretty good mood.
Alaric totally caught on, flashing a cocky grin. “Ophelia, don’t waste your breath on that idiot. She’s not worth it. My heart’s all yours, and no matter how much she dolls herself up, it won’t change a thing. I’m yours, so don’t go getting jealous, alright?”
“You… shut up,” Ophelia shot back, caught off guard. When she realized Alaric was teasing her about being jealous, her expression faltered and she looked away, flustered. “Who’s jealous? Not me!”
‘Was I really jealous just now?’ she wondered, a little thrown off by the thought.
‘Damn it… does he really think that?’ she grumbled to herself.
But she couldn’t really deny it. There’d been a little sting of jealousy in her chest just now.
‘Pfft, what am I even thinking? Get a grip!’ she thought.
‘No way. Like I’d ever care about Alaric,’ she scoffed to herself.
‘He can stare at whoever he wants. What’s it got to do with me?’ she huffed, trying to sound tough.
Seeing Ophelia deny it, Alaric didn’t get flustered. He just kept up his puppy-eyed act, whining, “Ophelia, you saw it yourself. She was the one trying to throw herself at me, and I dodged her, didn’t I? Don’t get all jealous over nothing, okay? If you’re upset, I’ll be upset too.”
He looked so soft and pitiful, tiptoeing around her like he was scared she’d blow up at him.
Watching Alaric act like her spoiled boyfriend, Ophelia felt like he just loved to mess with her again and again.
She rubbed her aching temples, thinking, ‘Can this clown ever act normal for once?’
Taking a deep breath, Ophelia held back her ar once vistes bintang it. I’m not jealous.”
