Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 193

193 Chapter 193

193.Chapter 193

“That’s enough, Alaric. This really has nothing to do with you, okay? I was just annoyed with Layla, not jealous of you…” Ophelia tried to get Alaric to see reason, wanting to make it clear this was between her and Layla, not about him. ‘Why can’t he just understand? This is about me and Layla, not him. I’m not jealous.’ Ophelia thought, trying to keep her cool.

But Alaric just missed the point completely. He replied, dead serious.

“Ophelia, whatever concerns you concerns me. Yeah, Layla’s a pain, and I know you’re not jealous. Trust me, I get it. I really do.” He sounded like he was humoring her, as if he knew exactly what she was trying not to admit.

He said those last words with a look that made it clear he saw right through her.

He’d pretty much called her out for being jealous.

Ophelia’s eyes widened just a bit as she stared into Alaric’s brooding eyes. Their gazes clashed, a silent battle sparking between them.

But she knew, no matter what she said now, Alaric wouldn’t buy it.

“Forget it. Just pretend I didn’t say anything,” Ophelia huffed, shooting Alaric an annoyed glare before finally giving up.

She didn’t notice it herself, but her defeated tone carried a hint of playful sulkiness.

‘Fine, keep pretending. Whatever makes you happy, Ophelia thought, a little pouty.

‘But I’m not playing with you anymore. I’m just not in the mood to bother with you,’ she added to herself.

Alaric watched her struggle to defend herself and couldn’t help but find it funny, “Sure,” he said, still playing dumb.

He kept pretending not to understand a word she said.

Ophelia let out a frustrated sigh and turned to walk away.

As she headed off, she spotted that Ella had left the car for her. Some of her irritation faded. ‘Maybe she’s not totally heartless, Ophelia thought, a little amused.

She walked up to the car and slipped into the driver’s seat like she owned it.

“Ophelia, wait up!” Alaric called, chasing after her, but she was already revving the engine, ready to go.

Finally free of him, she shot him a sly glance and flashed a bright, mischievous smile. “Mr. Caldwell, I’m heading out first. See ya!”

‘If he loves putting on a show so much, let him keep performing, Ophelia thought, secretly amused.

Watching her car pull away, Alaric shook his head with an indulgent, amused smile. “She’s really getting her revenge on me.”

‘All I did was play dumb with her,’ he thought.

‘Now she’s getting her payback, just leaving me here and ignoring me.’

‘This wildcat with that fiery temper, untamable, but damn, she’s impossible to walk away from,’ he mused, a glint of amusement in his eyes.

“Mr. Caldwell,” Ryan called, craning his neck to watch the car disappear down the road. “Ms. Rowle’s gone.”

Alaric turned back, his eyes icy, shooting Ryan a cold look. ‘You think I need you to point that out?’ he thought.

Ryan flinched, then quickly added, “I just meant, should we go after her?”

Alaric’s chill faded a bit as he replied in a low voice, “No need.”

‘She’s obviously trying to dodge me. Might as well let her have her way for now,’ he thought.

Seeing Alaric wasn’t mad, Ryan let out a quiet sigh of relief. ‘Guess I’m still in one piece,’ he thought.

‘Man, when is Ms. Rowle finally going to become Mrs. Caldwell? Otherwise, with Mr. Caldwell’s mood swings, I’m always walking on eggshells around here, Ryan grumbled to himself.

The next day.

New City Tower.

After getting out of her car, Ophelia walked gra dufyano matory every move radiating elegance.
