195 Chapter 195
195.Chapter 195
After she finished speaking, Ella Prescott ordered the secretary coldly, “Go make it clear they’re not welcome here. If they show up again, we won’t hold back.”
“They said if Ms. Draven doesn’t see them, they’re not leaving the lobby. They’ll wait until she agrees to meet them,” the secretary replied, her voice barely above a whisper, clearly troubled.
“Wow, they really have no shame,” Ella muttered, her face darkening as she looked ready to storrn downstairs and throw them out herself. “I’ll go kick them out.”
She just couldn’t wrap her head around how the Vossen family could stoop so low.
Even now, they still had the gall to come after Ophelia.
“Ella,” Ophelia called, stopping her. She looked at the secretary, her tone calm but firm. “I have nothing to do with them. Tell the front desk to warn them to stop pretending they’re related to me. If they refuse to leave, just call the police.”
The Vossen family really had some nerves. They still think Ophelia and they are a family and trying to pull this stunt at a time like this.
“Yes,” the secretary replied, turning to leave.
“Smart move, Boss. We shouldn’t even bother with them,” Ella scoffed, not needing to guess. She knew the Vossen family was just here to mooch off you.
Ophelia saw how frustrated Ella looked and gave her a wry smile. “Alright, just get back to work.”
People like that aren’t worth wasting our energy on.
“Yes,” Ella replied, heading out.
Ophelia grabbed her files and started working too.
Before they realized it, the lunch break had arrived.
Ophelia led Ella downstairs, getting ready to have lunch together.
“Ophelia, you finally came down,” Cameron Vossen called out the moment Ophelia and Ella stepped out of the building. He and Maxwell Vossen were already waiting, blocking their way.
Cameron was clearly worked up, while Maxwell was shooting daggers at Ophelia, his face twisted with resentment. “Why are you still hanging around?” Ella frowned, her eyes full of disgust.
The security guards had already kicked them out, but they just wouldn’t take the hint, still loitering outside, being a pain. Seriously, what a bunch of leeches.
Ophelia shot Cameron and Maxwell a frosty glare, her presence like a cold front. “Don’t call me by my name. I don’t want to see you. Move.”
“Wait, Ophelia… uh, Ms. Draven,” Cameron blurted out, but Ophelia’s icy stare shut him up fast. He forced himself to switch gears. “Ms. Draven, please don’t get upset. I just wanted to see you. Ever since you left the Vossen family, I realized how much I miss having you around.”
Deep down, Cameron was full of resentment toward Ophelia, but since he needed her help, he had to grit his teeth and pretend to care.
“Miss me?” Ophelia gave a cold, mocking smile. ‘Sure, you just miss my title and my bank account.”
‘Seriously, still playing the family card? Does he think I’m an idiot?’ Ophelia thought.
“Mr. Vossen, I think we’ve already said everything that needs to be said. You keep pestering me, and it’s starting to mess with my work and my life. If you don’t back off, I’ll have no choice but to call the police,” Ophelia said, her cold, steely gaze carrying a clear warning.
She might be young, but her aura demanded attention. No one could ignore her presence.
Cameron stared at Ophelia, his feelings a tangled mess of regret and frustration. ‘So my golden goose was right here all along. How could I have been so blind, mistaking a pearl for worthless glass?’ he thought bitterly.
But regret was useless now. He was determined to do whatever it took to make Ophelia change her mind.
