Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 197

197 Chapter 197

197.Chapter 197

Ophelia thought, ‘If a company just isn’t fit to run a certain business, then that’s that. Whether she realizes it or not, it won’t change my decision. If the Lawson Group wants to move forward, those underperforming subsidiaries in fields they’re not good at should be shut down.’

A hint of quilt flashed in Maxwell’s eyes. Of course, he’d already gotten the compensation.

But what he really wanted was to be a superstar in the spotlight, not just some compensation money.

“Did you hear me? Quit causing trouble here. If Mr. Lawson hasn’t given you your compensation, then go take it up with him. If he has, just move on and find another job. Sticking around here is just a waste of time,” Ella said through gritted teeth, glaring at Maxwell.

‘Seriously, he’s like the universe’s top drama king. How does he even have the guts to say that?’ Ella thought to herself. “Ophelia, are you really just going to leave me hanging and not deal with this?” Maxwell’s eyes were bloodshot, his voice laced with a threat.

‘This whole mess started because of her. There’s no way she’s just going to stand by and do nothing!’ Maxwell thought.

Ophelia gave Maxwell a proud, icy glance and said coldly, “This has nothing to do with me.”

“If you’re going to be cold, then don’t blame me for being cruel,” Maxwell spat through gritted teeth. Suddenly, he charged at Ophelia, roaring, “Since you’re making my life hell, don’t think you’ll get away easy either!”

It all happened in a flash. Ella was caught off guard, then instinctively yelled, “Boss, look out!”

Thud!

Ophelia kicked Maxwell right in the stomach. Caught completely off guard, he went down hard, face-planting on the floor with a heavy thud.

“Oh damn, that hurts like hell!” Maxwell groaned, his whole face contorted in agony.

“Maxwell, are you alright?” Cameron hurried over, his voice tight with concern.

Maxwell sat up with difficulty, clutching his forehead. The sting made him jerk his hand away, and he stared at the blood smeared across his palm.

Maxwell’s face turned sheet white as panic set in. “Dad, is my face ruined? I can’t be a star now, can I? I’m done for, right? My career’s over-I’ll never make it as a celebrity again, oh no…”

Cameron watched Maxwell whining in agony, his face turning livid as he shot Ophelia a furious glare. “What the hell is wrong with you? How could you hit him?”

Ophelia’s lips curled into a cold smirk. ‘Finally showing your true colors, huh? she thought, her eyes full of disdain.

She gave an innocent shrug, her voice casual and breezy. “Just self-defense, that’s all.”

“Mr. Vossen, do you have selective vision or something?” Ella put on an innocent face, her tone all fake concern but loaded

with sarcasm.

“Didn’t you see Maxwell started it? Was Ophelia just supposed to stand there and let him hit her?” Ella shot back.

‘Getting smacked down by a woman is already humiliating, but bawling like a baby? Seriously, that’s just pathetic,’ Ella thought, rolling her eyes.

“Ophelia, so you’re really ready to go to war with me, huh?” Cameron shot her a dangerous glare, completely ignoring Ella.
