200 Chapter 200
200.Chapter 200
She opened the door and stepped inside, only to spot Declan already there. She raised an eyebrow, barely noticeable. “Hey, Declan.”
‘What’s he doing here? Is this just a coincidence, or is Connor playing Cupid again?’ Ophelia wondered.
“Hey, Ophelia,” Declan greeted, a flash of surprise flickering in his eyes before he quickly pulled himself together and offered her a soft smile.
It was a surprise running into her here while he was visiting his grandpa.
‘Why am I actually kind of happy to see her?’ Declan thought, feeling an unexpected spark of joy the moment he saw Ophelia.
“Didn’t expect to see you here, Declan. Visiting Connor too?” Ophelia nodded politely, then strolled over to the bedside and gave Connor a teasing look. “Connor, looks like you’ve got quite the fan club tonight.”
‘Is Connor playing matchmaker again, trying to throw me and Declan together?’ Ophelia thought.
Connor caught the sharp, searching look in her eyes and immediately got what she was thinking. He threw up his hands, protesting, “Ophelia, kiddo, don’t get the wrong idea! This was pure coincidence, I promise.”
It was clear Ophelia had gotten the wrong idea. He really had just wanted to chat with her, and honestly, Declan showing up was the last thing he expected.
Sure, it made him happy to see Ophelia and Declan spending more time together, but he definitely couldn’t let Ophelia think he was trying to play matchmaker. He had to set the record straight.
Seeing that Connor genuinely didn’t seem to be scheming anything, Ophelia nodded. “Good to know.”
‘As long as it wasn’t intentional. The last thing I need is someone trying to set me up, Ophelia thought.
Declan watched her visibly relax after Connor’s explanation, and for some reason, his chest tightened with a weird sense of disappointment. ‘Is she really that freaked out about Grandpa trying to play matchmaker with us?’ he wondered.
‘She seriously doesn’t have any feelings for me at all. I used to think Ophelia had some hidden agenda, but looking back now, I was just fooling myself, Declan thought, a little embarrassed.
“Hey Ophelia, haven’t seen you at school lately,” Declan said, trying to play it cool, but he couldn’t quite hide the concern in his voice.
Declan had never really cared about anyone before, but now, not seeing Ophelia around made him weirdly curious about where she’d been.
A knowing sparkle lit up Connor’s eyes. ‘Well, well, is Declan finally catching on?’ he thought, a little amused.
“Had some stuff to deal with,” Ophelia answered, her polite but distant manner making it obvious she wasn’t looking to get close.
Her distant vibe kinda got to Declan, and he didn’t even know why.
Almost without thinking, Declan looked worried. “Need any help with that?”
Ophelia froze for a second while checking Connor’s pulse, her eyes narrowing as she looked over at Declan. “Declan, you…”
‘What’s that supposed to mean?’ Ophelia thought, a bit confused.
Realizing what he’d just blurted out, Declan got a bit awkward and quickly added, “Ophelia, I just mean… I’m your senior, so if you ever need anything, it’s only natural for me to help out. That’s what seniors are supposed to do, right?”
