Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 202

202.Chapter 202

202.Chapter 202

“Alright, suit yourself. I’ll probably be busy from now on, so I won’t be around when you get discharged,” Ophelia said, shrugging. She was going to focus on the company, so there was no way she’d have time to hang out at the hospital with Zachary and Connor.

“Oh, okay, got it,” Connor replied. Knowing Ophelia wouldn’t be coming by anymore really put his mind at ease.

With that, Ophelia got ready to leave.

“Declan, go see Ophelia out. I’m feeling tired, need to rest for a bit,” Connor said, noticing she was about to head out. Before Ophelia could even say anything, he just pulled the blanket over himself and lay down.

Ophelia’s lips twitched. ‘Connor, could you be any more obvious?’

“Alright, I’ll see you out,” Declan said, a soft smile tugging at his lips as he got up to walk with her.

Ophelia stepped out, and when she saw Declan really trailing after her, she shook her head, grinning, “Seriously, you don’t have to. I know this place inside out. You should just stay and keep Connor company.”

“I’ll walk you down anyway,” Declan paused, then added with a half-hearted excuse, “Otherwise Grandpa would never let me hear the end of it.”

He was a little taken aback. He actually wanted to spend more time with her, and that surprised even him.

Ophelia glanced at Declan, speaking openly. “I thought we had an unspoken understanding. We both know what Connor’s up to, and we should know how to play along.”

But today, Declan was really throwing her off.

He never struck her as the kind of guy who’d just do whatever Connor said.

Ophelia’s straightforwardness made Declan freeze for a second, and he blurted out, “No, you’ve got it wrong. You came to see Connor, so I just thought it’d be polite to walk you out.”

“I’m not misunderstanding anything,” Ophelia replied, shaking her head with a playful smile. “What I mean is, you and I should keep our distance, especially when Connor’s around. Otherwise, he’ll start getting the wrong idea, and honestly, that’ s just easier for both of us.”

After all, Connor had been trying to play matchmaker forever. If he ever thought there was something going on between us, he’d never stop trying to push us together.

That calm, relaxed smile lingered on Ophelia’s face, and Declan couldn’t help but stare. He was caught off guard, just a little dazed for a moment.

“Ophelia.” Someone suddenly called out, breaking the mood between them.

Before she could react, a tall and lean figure stepped up right beside her.

Ophelia looked up and locked eyes with Alaric, whose gaze was unusually serious. Instinctively, she asked, “Mr. Caldwell, what are you doing here?”

“Just here to check on Zachary,” Alaric replied, then shot Declan a look, one eyebrow arched and his tone dripping with meaning. “So, what exactly are you two doing out here?”

Watching them stand there, looking all flirty and not-so-innocent, Alaric couldn’t help but feel a wave of irritation.

“Mr. Caldwell, Declan greeted politely, then explained, “Ophelia came to visit my grandpa, and she was just about to head

out.”

“Oh?” Alaric lowered his gaze, giving Ophelia a sideways glance, his tone a bit sour. “So, Ophelia, you came with Declan to visit Connor?”
