205 Chapter 205
205.Chapter 205
Ophelia felt like her head was pounding, and even her eyes were starting to ache.
“Ophelia, I’m totally serious,” Alaric said, looking all self-important and acting like he was the embodiment of justice.
Ophelia let out a sigh.
‘Does he even know what “serious” actually means?’ Ophelia thought to herself.
“Come on, Ophelia, let’s go. I’ll go with you to grab a bite,” Alaric said, seizing the chance while she was still silent.
“I don’t need you,” Ophelia shot Alaric a glare, her voice full of annoyance.
Alaric paused, looking like he was thinking hard, then put on a straight face and said, “If you don’t want me to go with you, then you come with me.”
Ophelia was so exasperated by his nonsense that she almost laughed. “What’s the difference?”
‘Either way, we’re still stuck together, she thought.
“Of course there’s a difference,” Alaric said, a devilish smirk playing on his lips as he leaned in, closing the space between them. His voice dropped, playful and a little flirty. “If you came with me of your own accord, I’d be over the moon.”
His breath brushed softly past her ear, and Ophelia’s heart skipped a beat for no reason.
She instinctively stepped back, only to find herself pinned against the car, nowhere left to run.
Alaric closed the distance, boxing her in between him and the car. There was something electric hanging in the air between them.
Ophelia just stood there, caught in his deep gaze, her mind going totally blank.
Someone walked by, the sound snapping Ophelia back to herself. Her cheeks grew hot in an instant.
‘Crap, what am I even doing?’ she thought, flustered.
She shoved Alaric away, grumbling, “Can you just talk like a normal person? And stop getting so close.”
Alaric smirked and reached out for her, but Ophelia instinctively dodged, shooting him a warning look. “Keep your hands to yourself.”
But instead, Alaric just opened the car door for her, putting on an innocent face. “I was just trying to help. Did you think I was up to something, Ophelia?”
“Alaric!” Ophelia rolled her eyes, totally speechless. ‘He’s definitely doing this on purpose, she thought.
“Get in the car, Ophelia,” Alaric arched his brow, looking pretty pleased with himself.
He was starting to realize that teasing this girl was way more entertaining than he’d expected.
Ophelia clenched her jaw, fighting the urge to sock him right in that smug face of his.
“What, are you just going to stand there until I pick you up and put you in the car?” Alaric glanced around, pretending to be troubled. “With all these people watching, it might be a bit much. Unless you’re into that, then I’m totally game.”
‘Here we go again with the threats, Ophelia thought, rolling her eyes internally.
Ophelia took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.
With all these people coming and going, they were definitely getting way too many looks.
“You’re overthinking it,” Ophelia shot Alaric a fierce glare, then turned and headed for the passenger seat, opening the door herself and getting in.
