206 Chapter 206
206.Chapter 206
“Alright, Ophelia’s place it is,” Alaric said, playing along, but his eyes were practically sparkling with mischief.
Ophelia’s lips twitched. She was so done, she couldn’t even deal.
‘Why does that sound even more flirty?’ she thought.
She couldn’t help but shoot him a fierce glare, then had no choice but to grit her teeth and change her tune. “Not going home. Anywhere else is fine.”
If she actually let him tag along back to her place and he started his drama king routine again, saying all sorts of nonsense, there’d be no way to talk her way out of it.
It was just dinner anyway. She’d grab a quick bite somewhere and then head home.
Alaric let out a soft chuckle, then replied in a gentle voice, “Alright, let’s hit up-Drunken Fairy.”
Ophelia just shrugged and pouted, sounding totally uninterested. “Whatever,” she said, clearly not really bothered.
Alaric couldn’t help but shake his head, eyes brimming with affection. ‘This girl is so damn stubborn, he thought.
After a bit, Alaric pulled the car to a stop.
They’d reached Drunken Fairy. Alaric shot her a look and said, “Head on in, I’ll go find a spot to park.”
“Sure,” Ophelia said, popping the door open and hopping out.
“Order whatever you want. Since you’re gracing me with your presence tonight, dinner’s on me,” Alaric teased, arching an eyebrow at her.
Ophelia gave him a dramatic eye roll. “As if I’m here for you.”
‘Please, as if he doesn’t know why I’m here,’ Ophelia thought, exasperated.
But Alaric was already grinning as he drove off toward the parking lot.
Ophelia turned to head into the restaurant, but she barely made it to the door before running into an unexpected guest.
“Well, well, Sis, fancy seeing you here for dinner too,” Layla chirped, masking the malice in her eyes and acting all chummy, like they were best friends who hadn’t seen each other in ages.
Ophelia shot her a frosty glare, her whole aura turning cold as ice. “Get out of my way.”
‘Just my luck to run into her. She’s seriously putting me off my meal, Ophelia thought.
“Don’t be so grumpy, Sis,” Layla said, her chin up and a smug little smirk on her face. “What are the odds we’d bump into each other here? I just thought it’d be nice to have a chitchat.”
As she spoke, Layla kept sneaking glances inside, clearly waiting for someone.
Ophelia squinted, suspicious. ‘Who is she waiting for, and why is she blocking me like this? Is she trying to make me run
into someone?’
“A chitchat with you?” Ophelia scoffed, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “Layla, are you mad or something?”
‘Chitchat? With her? Please. I don’t even bother looking at her, or anyone from the Vossen family,’ Ophelia thought, her disgust plain as day.
“Oh, come on, Sis, don’t say that,” Layla replied, laying it on thick with her fake sincerity. “Sure, we haven’t spent much time together, but you lived at the Vossen residence for years, taking care of Mom and Dad for me. I really do appreciate it.”
As she spoke, she even reached out to tug on Ophelia’s sleeve.
“Let go!” Ophelia snapped, disgust written all over her face. She shook off Layla’s hand without even thinking, ‘Ugh, don’t touch me, she thought.
