207 Chapter 207
207.Chapter 207
A flicker of surprise flashed in Ophelia’s eyes. “Mr. Kingston?”
Her gaze shifted between Kingston and Layla, her lips curling in a mocking smile.
‘Damn, this little bitch really isn’t picky. Even someone like Kingston is fair game for her?’ Ophelia thought.
Layla could clearly see the disdain and contempt in Ophelia’s eyes, and it made her blood boil and her heart ache.
She was totally out of options now. Just getting a chance to meet Kingston, who’d actually promised to help her, was already a huge stroke of luck in her situation.
But with Ophelia shooting her that look, Layla could feel her cheeks burning. She was so embarrassed, it felt like she’d just been slapped in the face.
Kingston hadn’t expected to bump into Ophelia here either, and he gave her adook, surprised and clearly conflicted.
‘Wait, Rowan is Ms. Vossen’s sister?’ Kingston wondered, his eyes narrowing.
His gaze darkened, and he said to Ophelia in a haughty tone, “Rowan, aren’t you pushing it a bit too far?”
His company, Kingston Group, had nearly gone under, but thanks to someone secretly lending a hand, he’d barely managed to keep things afloat.
But just thinking about how Rowan Draven had coldly watched from the sidelines while he almost lost everything made Kingston grit his teeth in frustration.
He hadn’t expected to run into Rowan Draven again so soon, and now that the opportunity was right in front of him, he was dead set on teaching this cocky little troublemaker a lesson about knowing her place.
“Pushing? Seriously? Got something to say about that, Kingston?” Ophelia shot back, giving him a once-over. She could tell he was nothing like the wreck she’d seen last time. ‘So, Kingston Group really bounced back, huh?’ she thought.
“Kneel down and apologize to her,” Kingston commanded, chin raised high, looking like he owned the place.
Only by putting Rowan Draven in her place could he finally shake off that burning frustration inside.
Ophelia let out a sarcastic laugh at Kingston’s stupidity. “Me? Apologize?”
‘And he actually expects me to get on my knees and apologize? What a joke,’ she thought, rolling her eyes.
‘How does he even come up with this stuff? And he actually has the nerve to say it out loud, Ophelia scoffed inwardly.
“I don’t have time for this. Move aside, don’t waste my time,” Ophelia said, not even bothering to hide her annoyance. She really didn’t want to deal with these idiots. All she wanted was to get away and have some peace.
“You really think you can just walk away?” King snapped, his face going a shade darker at Ophelia not backing down at all. “Kingston, please don’t blame my sister. She didn’t mean it, I’m really okay,” Layla said, reaching out to grab Kingston’s sleeve. But then she suddenly yelped, “Ow!”
“What happened?” Kingston’s frown deepened, concern flashing in his eyes.
Layla clutched her left leg, her face scrunched up in pain. “Pretty sure I just twisted my ankle.”
“Rowan Draven, I used to think you were just bossy, but now I see you’re downright ruthless,” Kingston said, putting on a show of righteous indignation. “Layla’s hurt her ankle, and an apology isn’t gonna cut it. You need to cough up some compensation.”
