Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 208

208 Chapter 208

208.Chapter 208

“Fine, you want to see what it looks like when I actually mean it?” Ophelia said, then gave Layla a real shove.

“Ah! Did you really just push me?” Layla stumbled back two steps, wide-eyed and panicking as she stared at Ophelia.

Ophelia smirked, arms crossed, nodding in satisfaction at Layla. “Look, nothing happened. Drama much?”

“You…” Kingston stared at Layla, looking completely dumbfounded.

“I…” Layla was speechless for a moment, then played dumb with a fake smile. “Heh, looks like I’m actually fine now.”

“Well, would you look at that? I just fixed you up. Should I send you the bill?” Ophelia shot Layla a mocking look.

‘This little bitch really knows how to put on a show,’ Ophelia thought.

‘But if she thinks she can mess with me, she’s got another thing coming; Ophelia added to herself.

“The bill?” Layla was so mad she could barely see straight. ‘Ophelia, are you nuts?’ she thought.

“Ophelia, don’t push it,” Kingston said, staring at her in disbelief. ‘Is she really flipping the script right now?’ he thought.

“She hurt her ankle and I fixed it. Isn’t it only fair she pays me for my services?” Ophelia replied, her eyes wide with fake innocence.

“Absolutely, it’s only fair,” a commanding voice suddenly rang out from behind them. It was Alaric, his tone dripping with authority.

Alaric strode over and stood right next to Ophelia, shooting Kingston a frosty look. “What do you think, Kingston?”

Kingston felt a chill run down his spine, his voice trembling. “A-Alaric, you’re here too.”

“If I hadn’t shown up, how would I have known you were picking on my fiancée? Alaric said, his arm slipping around Ophelia’s waist, making it clear he was there to protect her.

“Fiancée?” Kingston stumbled back, his face going ghostly pale.

He never would’ve guessed Rowan Draven was actually Alaric’s fiancée. ‘No wonder Mr. Caldwell’s been so protective of her, Kingston thought, a cold wave of dread crashing over him.

“Mr. Caldwell, it’s all just a misunderstanding,” Kingston blurted out, nervously wiping sweat from his brow as he yanked Layla over, desperate to explain. “She said they’re sisters, we were just saying hello, that’s all.”

“Sisters?” Alaric gave Layla a look of utter contempt, his voice icy. “Funny, I never knew my fiancée had a sister like you.”

Just that one glance from Alaric sent an icy chill through Layla, freezing her in place. Her legs felt glued to the floor, and she was so paralyzed she couldn’t even think of how to respond.

He’d never bothered to look at her before, but now that his eyes were finally on her, Layla realized just how terrifying he could be. That stare was enough to make her want to run for her life.

“M-Mr. Caldwell, maybe we could… ” Kingston stammered, but the second Alaric shot him that icy glare, he choked back his words and switched gears fast. “We’ll pay the bill, no problem.”

He wouldn’t dare piss off Alaric. If he did, his company, which he’d just barely saved, could be gone from Dunhollow overnight.

“Good,” Alaric grunted, finally looking satisfied.

Kingston immediately whipped out a card, his hand trembling as he handed it to Ophelia with a fawning smile. “Ms. Draven, here’s half a million for your treatment fee. Thanks for stepping in just now, you really went above and beyond.”

“Kingston, you’re actually giving her money?” Layla finally snapped out of it, totally forgetting her fear of Alaric. She just stared at the card in Ophelia’s hand, her eyes practically glowing with envy.

“Shut up! This is all your fault!” Kingston barked, his face twisted with anger.

Layla pouted, cheeks red, looking all kinds of pitiful. “I know I caused you trouble, Kingston, but isn’t this way too much for a doctor’s fee?”

“You don’t know anything,” Kingston spat through gritted teeth. “Ms. Draven earned every cent.”

‘Of course I know it’s too much, Kingston thought, gritting his teeth.

‘But with a hellish protector like Alaric standing right here, what else can I do?’ he added to himself.

‘If I give her any less, there’s no way Alaric wou Successfully unlocked on thought, a cold sweat breaking out on his
