213 Chapter 213
213.Chapter 213
“You really dreamed about Mr. Caldwell? You two are moving fast,” Ella couldn’t help but tease. “But honestly, with a guy like Mr. Caldwell-he’s the cream of the crop-anyone who doesn’t fall for him must have something wrong with them.” Ophelia raised an eyebrow, giving Ella a knowing look. “Wow, you really have high hopes for him, huh?”
Ella frowned slightly, pursing her lips as she thought it over. “Honestly, in all of Dunhollow, no one even comes close to Mr. Caldwell.”
‘Boss is just on another level, so only someone truly exceptional could ever be worthy of her, Ella thought to herself. “Well… I guess you do have a point,” Ophelia said, nodding with exaggerated seriousness. Then, a sly smile tugged at her lips as she glanced at Ella.
“Since Mr. Caldwell is so great, how about I get you a job at Caldwell Group? That way, you can have a front-row seat to brown-nosing him all day long.”
‘Day in and day out, it’s always “Mr. Caldwell this, Mr. Caldwell that.” Seriously, whose sidekick is she, anyway?’ Ophelia thought to herself.
Ella immediately shook her head, standing up straight with a determined look. “No way. I’m sticking with you, Boss. I’m not going anywhere.”
“Aren’t you always going on about Mr. Caldwell? Why not go work for him then?” Ophelia shot her a look of mock
annoyance.
Ella grinned, sidling up to Ophelia and giving her shoulders a playful squeeze. “It’s not Mr. Caldwell I’m after. I’m just dying to see if you and Mr. Caldwell will actually become a thing.”
‘I’m front row for all the drama, and honestly, I can’t wait to see what happens next, Ella thought, grinning to herself.
“Shut up. You’re way too free these days. Maybe I should-” Ophelia’s eyes turned sharp, and Ella’s alarm bells went off. She bolted, shouting, “Boss, I’m super busy! Gotta get back to work!”
‘Crap, when Boss gets mad, it’s seriously scary, Ella thought, her heart pounding as she ran for her life.
Watching Ella bolt like she was being chased by a demon, Ophelia could only roll her eyes in exasperation.
If she hadn’t known Ella for years and trusted her completely, she’d honestly start to wonder if Alaric had somehow recruited her to his side.
Ophelia was still stewing when the office door creaked open again and Ella popped her head in. “Boss, come on, what exactly did you dream about with Mr. Caldwell?”
Without missing a beat, Ophelia snatched a tissue off her desk and lobbed it right at Ella.
Bang!
The door slammed shut, and Ella’s giggles floated in from the hallway.
“Maybe it’s time I started looking for a new VP’ Ophelia grumbled, massaging her temples.
‘What did I dream about? Just that annoying face of his, popping up in my mind nonstop. And those endless “Ophelia’s, seriously, it’s like a broken record in my head, Ophelia thought with exasperation.
“Ophelia, make sure I’m in your dreams,” Alaric’s voice echoed in her ears again. Ophelia paused for a moment, then couldn’ t help but let out a helpless chuckle.
‘Forget it, there’s no way I’m getting any peace in the office today, Ophelia sighed inwardly.
She stood up and left the office, heading out to inspect a project.
As soon as she stepped out of the office, Ophelia bumped into Ella, who looked at her with a puzzled face. “Boss, where you headed?”
“Just checking on a project,” Ophelia replied, keeping her face serious as she glanced at Ella.
Ella flashed a nervous smile. “Want me to tag along?”
“No need. Just focus on your own work,” Ophelia shook her head. “I’ve got it covered.”
She was just going to scope things out; anything else could wait until she got back. “Alright then,” Ella replied.
After finishing up her work, Ophelia got in her car and headed to her destination.
