Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 220

220 Chapter 220

220.Chapter 220

Honestly, it was pure luck they showed up when they did. Judging by how things went down today, Ophelia would’ve been in serious trouble otherwise.

“Let’s go, Alaric said, a stormy look in his eyes as he strode out of the ER.

At the same time, somewhere else.

Ophelia was already outside the hospital.

Her heart had finally calmed down, and the heat in her cheeks had faded away.

But the memory of that intimate moment just now kept replaying in her mind, refusing to leave.

And then there was the way Alaric had shielded her in that emergency. She could still remember how safe she’d felt in his

arms.

Ophelia nibbled at her lip, her gaze clouded with all sorts of tangled emotions.

She gave her head a little shake, forcing herself to get it together, and stuck out her hand to hail a cab.

Once she was in the cab, Ophelia called Ella. “Keep an eye on the Vossen family and Vossen Group. Let me know what they’ re up to lately.”

“Boss, did something happen?” Ella asked, her voice cautious and a little confused.

Ophelia scoffed. “They must think life’s way too easy for them right now.”

“Alright,” Ella replied, already guessing the Vossen family must’ve pulled some dumb stunt that’s going to piss everyone off again.

After hanging up, Ophelia leaned back in her seat, her gaze turning somber.

She was supposed to check out a project today, but after everything that happened, that’s definitely off the table for now. She lowered her eyes for a moment, then looked at the driver and gave him the Rowle residence address.

‘Forget it, I’ll just go home, Ophelia told herself.

Her injuries had been taken care of, but after all that chaos, she was still feeling exhausted.

Ophelia’s sudden return caught Victoria off guard.

“Ophelia, why are you back at this hour? Is everything alright?” Victoria asked, her eyes full of concern.

“Nothing much going on this afternoon, so I figured I’d just head home,” Ophelia said casually, flashing Victoria a relaxed smile. She made sure to act like everything was perfectly normal. No way was she letting Victoria find out she’d gotten hurt. “Ophelia, did you just come back from the hospital?” Chloe asked, trying to sound casual.

But the curiosity in her eyes was practically impossible to hide.

Ophelia narrowed her eyes slightly, but her voice stayed calm. “Why do you ask, Chloe?”

“Oh, it’s just that you kind of smell like disinfectant,” Chloe said, playing it off awkwardly. “If I’m wrong, just pretend I’m talking nonsense.”

Ophelia shot Chloe a look that said she wasn’t buying it. “You sure pick up on these things fast, Chloe.”

“Not really,” Chloe mumbled, her eyes darting away. “I was just guessing.”

“Well, your guess is really…” Ophelia deliberately dragged it out, then smirked, “not even close.”

Ophelia could totally tell Chloe was trying to fish for information.

‘Chloe’s probably poking around for Zoe again, that scheming little bitch,’ Ophelia thought to herself.

“Oh, Ophelia, you’re just teasing me,” Chloe said, her smile a bit forced. “Don’t mind me.”

Ophelia was just too perceptive. Chloe couldn’t risk letting her real motives show.

Chloe was sure that was the smell of disinfectant on Ophelia, so she figured Ophelia must’ve been at the hospital. ‘Maybe she went to see Zachary Caldwell?’ Chloe wondered.

‘No wonder Zoe’s been sighing and moaning to me lately, saying Ophelia and Alaric are practically joined at the hip now, and she’s got no shot anymore; Chloe thought.

‘Guess Zoe wasn’t just being dramatic after all,’ Chloe mused.

Ophelia gave her a cold stare. “Save it, I’m really not in the mood.”

Chloe ducked her head, faking humility. “Yes.”

Victoria watched the two of them, a flicker of confusion crossing her eyes, but in the end, she just kept quiet. “Mrs. Rowle, I’ll go check on things in the kitchen,” Chloe said, nodding respectfully before heading off. Once Chloe was gone, Victoria leaned in and asked Ophelia softly, “Ophelia, did Chloe do something wrong?”

‘Why does it seem like Ophelia really can’t stand Chloe?’ Victoria wondered to herself.
