Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 235

Chapter 235

Chapter 235

“Ophelia,” Claire said with a bright smile as she walked over. “Your uncles felt really bad about missing Grandpa’s birthday, so they’ve been busy trying to make it up to him with a birthday gift.

“They came back in such a rush, they didn’t get a chance to prepare anything for you.”

“Oh, right,” Scarlett quickly chimed in, shooting Claire a grateful look.

‘Good thing Claire reacted fast, or we’d be in hot water again.

‘Didn’t they notice how Tristan’s face was turning stormy?

‘Looks like he’s about to lose his temper,’ Scarlett thought.

“Then just give all the birthday gifts you prepared for me to Ophelia,” Tristan said, but his next words made their faces change instantly.

“What?” Scarlett’s voice shot up an octave.

They’d pulled out all the stops picking out those ridiculously expensive gifts, all just to keep Tristan from blowing up.

‘Is that little brat really going to walk away with all our hard-earned gifts?’ Scarlett fumed inwardly.

“What, you got a problem with that?” Tristan’s tone was icy, all authority.

“Dad…” Scarlett shrank back, but forced herself to protest, “You can’t just play favorites. Ophelia’s not the only one in this family, you know. Shouldn’t you treat us all the same?”

‘Why does Ophelia get everything just because she showed up again? Now she’s even getting the gifts we bought for Tristan?’ Scarlett grumbled to herself.

“Treat everyone the same?” Tristan’s gaze swept over the room. “Is that what all of you think?”

“Dad, we…” Claire hesitated, looking torn.

Tristan’s eyes swept across the room, lingering on each face before he finally spoke, his tone slow and heavy. “If that’s what you all want, then every kid in the Rowle family can pack up and leave, make it on their own for eighteen years.

“When they come back, I’ll make sure they get every single thing Ophelia has today.”

“This…” Claire’s face went ghostly pale, completely lost for words.

“Dad, isn’t that just impossible? How could you even suggest something like that?” Scarlett protested, her voice tight with frustration.

‘Why should our kids have to suffer like that?’ Scarlett fumed inwardly.

“If you can’t do it, then quit being jealous of Ophelia. None of you have any idea what she’s been through,” Tristan declared, his words echoing through the room.

“Let me make this clear, this is the last time I’m talking about it. If anyone can’t deal with it, the door’s wide open. Leave the Rowle family if you want. I won’t stop you,” he continued.

The living room went dead silent, so quiet one could hear a pin drop.

Scarlett opened her mouth a few times, but in the end, she just stayed quiet.

She was bitter about it, but seeing Tristan already pissed off, she knew better than to stir things up.

She glanced over at Claire, who shook her head, telling her to just let it go.

Scarlett honestly never expected Tristan to care about Ophelia this much. None of the other Rowle kids had ever gotten this kind of special treatment.

“Dad, please don’t get so upset. You need to take care of your health,” Henry said with a gentle smile, trying to calm Tristan down. “We just got a bit ahead of ourselves. We understand your point, and we won’t mention it again.”

“Hmph, Tristan snorted, obviously still displeased.

Henry turned to Ophelia and said, “Ophelia, don’t let it bother you. We really didn’t handle this very well.”

Ophelia met Henry’s gaze. He wore a gentle smile, and his whole vibe was so reassuring, it was hard not to feel comfortable around him.

Ophelia’s brow twitched ever so slightly, a glimmer of interest flickering in her eyes.

‘Asher always comes off uptight and stern, but Henry seems way more approachable,’ Ophelia thought.
