Chapter 237
Chapter 237
“Ophelia,” Zoe said, tugging gently at Ophelia’s sleeve, her voice tinged with embarrassment. “Caterina doesn’t make clothes like this. They only do high-end custom pieces.”
It sounded like she was just pointing out Ophelia’s mistake.
But the way she deliberately raised her voice, almost like she wanted everyone to see Ophelia mess up.
A cold smile tugged at Ophelia’s lips. ‘So this fake innocent isn’t as well-behaved as she pretends, she thought.
“You just said they only do custom couture. Who says this isn’t custom?” Ophelia gave Zoe a cool glance.
Zoe’s face went pale as she said timidly, “Ophelia, please don’t be mad. I just wanted to remind you, Caterina’s never made anything like this before.”
“That’s just because you haven’t seen the world,” Ophelia shot back, not even bothering to look at her. Her eyes were cold as she added, “So don’t judge me with your tunnel vision.”
“I…” Zoe hung her head, looking all hurt and miserable, too scared to say anything else.
Daphne frowned, her voice thick with sarcasm. “Ophelia, don’t push it. Who here doesn’t know Caterina?
“If you’re going to show off, at least pick a brand that’s not so famous. Now you’ve been exposed, and you’re still pretending like nothing happened.”
‘If you’re going to fake it, at least try to cover it up a little. Seriously, does she even know what embarrassment is?’ Daphne thought.
Ophelia curled her lips into a mocking smile, her voice taunting. “So you all know Caterina, huh?”
“Of course,” Daphne replied, her eyes gleaming with smug satisfaction.
‘Ophelia, this time you’re going to be utterly humiliated. Let’s see how you keep up that facade now!’ Daphne thought.
“Bet you know this one too,” Ophelia drawled, flipping up the edge of her T-shirt with a lazy flick to show off an embroidered letter.
“C!” Daphne blinked furiously, eyes wide in disbelief. “How does your shirt even have that logo?”
‘Wait, could Ophelia’s clothes really be from Caterina?’ Daphne’s mind was spinning.
‘No freaking way!’ she told herself, refusing to accept it.
‘How is that even possible?’ Daphne thought, her brain in total chaos.
‘Why would Caterina ever make a custom piece just for Ophelia?’ Daphne thought, her mind spinning.
“What do you think?” Ophelia let her shirt fall back into place, shooting Daphne a mocking look.
It was like she was silently calling Daphne a total clown.
That smile stung Daphne like a slap. Her face twisted with rage, her eyes practically burning red as she glared at Ophelia and shouted, “It’s fake! It has to be!”
Ophelia was clearly mocking her for pretending to know what she didn’t. ‘She’s so damn annoying!’ Daphne fumed.
Ophelia let out a cold snort, then turned to Scarlett, a mocking smile playing on her lips. “Scarlett, do you think this is fake?”
That smile was enough to make Scarlett want to spit blood. Her face kept changing colors, like a mood ring on overdrive. She glared at Ophelia, teeth clenched, totally at a loss for words.
Of course, they all recognized the logo as real. But how the hell did Ophelia get Caterina to give her such special treatment, designing and making clothes just for her?
What really stung was that Ophelia was basically slapping Daphne, and all of them, right across the face.
Scarlett felt her cheeks burning, her insides churning with rage and embarrassment.
“Ophelia, how did you get your hands on something designed by Caterina?” Claire asked, her tone all gentle and friendly, like she was just curious and not at all bothered by what just happened.
She kept up that calm act, as if she hadn’t just gotten her ego bruised along with the rest of them.
