Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 243

Chapter 243

Chapter 243

“It’s right over there…” The hostess hadn’t even finished speaking when Ophelia cut in, “You’ve got it wrong. We’ re not a couple.”

“Not a couple?” The hostess raised an eyebrow, then glanced down at their hands, which were still held together.

Seeing the hostess’s reaction, Ophelia followed his gaze and realized Alaric’s large hand was still tightly holding hers.

She jerked her hand away as if she’d been electrocuted, her cheeks flushing red. She shot Alaric a reproachful glare. ‘What are you doing?’

Alaric shrugged innocently and turned to the hostess. “We’ll take the couple’s seat.”

“Sure thing, sir,” the hostess replied, then led them to their seats.

Ophelia stared at the couple’s seat, her mind went blank.

It was a tiny heart-shaped table, and the chairs were actually mini swings. If they wanted to sit down, they’d have to squeeze together, otherwise, there was no way they’d fit.

“You guys really go all out to attract customers,” Ophelia couldn’t help but snark.

She gave Alaric a warning look. “Are you sure you want to sit here?”

It was like if he dared to say yes, she’d flip the table right then and there.

“Alright, we’ll take this spot,” Alaric started, but before Ophelia could explode, he quickly added, “But can we get regular chairs instead?”

“Sure thing, sir,” the hostess replied, then called someone over to swap out the chairs.

Ophelia gave Alaric a look, her irritation finally melting away.

‘Smart move. If you’d insisted, this dinner would’ve been dead on arrival, she thought.

Alaric couldn’t help but ruffle her hair, seeing her all puffed up like a grumpy little hamster. “Come on, Ophelia, I could never bear to see you upset.”

He really did want to sit there, but since she was so against it, he had to take her feelings into account.

Ophelia shot him a dramatic eye-roll. ‘Says he can’t bear to upset me, but I bet he did it just to mess with me,’ she thought.

Once they were seated and had ordered, Ophelia looked up at Alaric, her brows furrowing with concern.

“Your injury might not be open, but it’s still pretty serious. You really need to rest, otherwise you’ll take ages to recover,” she reminded him.

‘He felt a little warm when he was napping on my shoulder earlier. If he keeps this up, he’s definitely going to get a fever,’ Ophelia thought to herself.

“Alright, I’ll do as you say, Ophelia,” Alaric replied with a playful smile.

Ophelia’s cheeks flushed, and she shot him an annoyed glare. “Can you be serious for once?”

But Alaric’s face suddenly turned serious, and he instinctively pulled her close.

Crash!

A sharp crash rang out behind them, like porcelain breaking.

Ophelia glanced back and saw a vase had fallen by the railing, if Alaric hadn’t pulled her away, it might’ve hit

her.

Alaric’s voice was low and full of concern in her ear. “Are you okay?”

“I’m…” Ophelia started to look up at him, but before she could finish, her lips accidentally pressed right against the corner of his mouth.

Chapter 243

As he turned his head slightly, his lips grazed hers.

Feeling that soft contact, Alaric’s pupils contracted, his gaze instantly darkening.

Ophelia froze, her mind going completely blank.
