Chapter 252

Chapter 252

“Hey!” Ophelia instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck, looking at him in confusion. “What are you doing?”

“You’re not going back to the party looking like that,” Alaric said, and without another word, he carried her straight out of the banquet hall.

Right in front of everyone.

Ophelia rolled her eyes, totally fed up. “Come on, if we’re leaving, can you just put me down? I can walk, you know!”

‘I’m seriously gonna lose my mind here,’ Ophelia grumbled to herself, on the verge of a meltdown.

After tonight, there was no clearing up the misunderstanding.

“Those shoes are a disaster,” Alaric said matter-of-factly, holding her tight and not letting her down.

Ophelia shot Alaric an annoyed glare, feeling seriously frustrated inside.

‘What’s so inconvenient about this, anyway? I broke off my heels just so I could walk more easily. How else was I supposed to kick open the bathroom door?’ she muttered to herself.

‘Does he really think I’m some helpless girl who can’t handle herself?’ Ophelia huffed inwardly.

After Alaric carried her out of the hotel, the driver had already pulled up out front with the car.

Alaric gently set her down, opened the car door for her, and said, “Let’s go.”

Ophelia shot him a fierce glare and warned, “Don’t just go picking me up in front of a crowd without asking! Now everyone’s got the wrong idea about me, and I’ll never live it down!”

If it weren’t for all the business elites from Dunhollow watching, she wouldn’t have backed down for a second.

But with so many eyes on them, making a fuss would just make things awkward for everyone, so she had to let it slide. ‘Hmph, like I’d ever let him off that easy if it was just us, she fumed.

With a gentle, teasing smile, Alaric said, “Sure, whatever you want, Ophelia. You’re the boss.”

“If you’re really gonna listen to me, then why didn’t you let me go earlier?” Ophelia shot back, rolling her eyes. Such a sly fox, he’s just trying to butter me up,’ she thought.

Alaric’s eyes softened with that familiar, doting look. “Okay, my bad. Let me treat you to dinner to make it up to you.”

As he spoke, Alaric jerked his chin toward the car, signaling her to get in.

Ophelia shot him a playful glare, rolling her eyes as she ducked into the car. “Don’t bother trying to spoil me, just take me home, okay?”

“Let’s grab a bite first,” Alaric said, flashing her a playful grin. He really wasn’t ready to let her go home yet, he just wanted to steal a little more time with her.

“Didn’t you just say you’d do whatever I say?” Ophelia shot him a mocking look, her lips twisted in sarcasm. Wow, breaking your promise already?”

Alaric gave a resigned smile..”Fine, we’ll eat at your place, best of both worlds, right?”

Not exactly breaking his promise, and he still got to hang out with her a little longer.

Ophelia shot Alaric an annoyed glare, gritting her teeth. “Are you threatening me right now?”

“Ophelia, is having dinner with me really that unbearable?” Alaric gave her his best puppy eyes, looking totally crushed.

“Stop!” Ophelia groaned, feeling her head throb. She could only throw in the towel. “Alright, let’s just go out to

eat then.”

Alaric had her totally cornered, but what else could she not the fed to give in.
