Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 253

Chapter 253

Ophelia felt as if someone had punched a bloody hole right through her chest, aching, freezing, and bleeding endlessly.

“Ophelia, you left me no choice. Don’t blame me for this,” Zoe spat through gritted teeth, her voice dripping with hatred.

Zoe spun around, startled, her heart racing as she blurted out, “Oliver, what are you doing here?”

Oliver gave Zoe a cold look, his eyes dark. “Just came to see Ophelia.”

With that, he turned and headed into the hotel.

He had no clue what had just happened, he only saw Alaric carrying Ophelia out, so he went after them.

But seeing that Ophelia wasn’t hurt, he let it go and didn’t follow any further.

Since Ophelia was fine, he didn’t worry about her anymore.

As for Zoe, after witnessing that scene, she’d probably give up now.

Watching his cold, distant back, Zoe inwardly breathed a sigh of relief.

‘Guess Oliver didn’t catch what I said just now, Zoe thought, pressing a hand to her chest as her heart finally settled. ‘Thank goodness.’

She drew in a deep breath and stepped into the hall, her eyes clouded as she made her way toward Asher.

After the car pulled up, Alaric got out and helped Ophelia out as well.

But instead of heading straight to dinner, he took her to a nearby boutique first.

“Weren’t we supposed to get food? Why are we here?” Ophelia frowned, her eyes full of confusion as she looked at him.

Alaric gave her a playful look, raising his eyebrow. “Why don’t you guess?”

Then he took her by the hand and led her over to the clerk. “Could you get her a pair of flats?”

“Sure, sir. Please wait a moment,” the clerk nodded and went off to find some flats for her.

She soon returned with three pairs, smiling at Ophelia. “These should all fit you. Take a look and see which ones you’d like to try on.”

Alaric glanced at Ophelia and said softly, “Want to try them all on?”

“No, I’ll just take the white pair,” Ophelia said, shaking her head and pointing to her choice.

“Here, let me have them,” Alaric said, reaching out to the clerk.

The clerk hesitated for a moment before handing the shoes over to him.

Alaric crouched down and gently grasped Ophelia’s ankle. She instinctively tried to pull away, but he just kept her close, refusing to let go.

“I can do it myself,” Ophelia muttered, her tone protesting.

‘What is this guy even doing?’ Ophelia thought, feeling a bit thrown off.

‘Did someone take over his body or something?’ she wondered, totally baffled.

‘Does he even realize what he’s doing?’ she thought, still trying to figure him out.

“I’d be happy to do it for you, Ophelia,” Alaric said, keeping a firm hold on her ankle as he slipped off her old shoes.

He gently put the new shoes on her feet, then curved his lips in approval. “You’ve got great taste, Ophelia.” Ophelia lowered her gaze to him, momentarily stunned and forgetting how to respond.

She never imagined he could be so gentle, the way he fussed over her with such tenderness made her zone

out for a second.

For a moment, she wondered if all that cunning and over-the-top theatrics were just masks he wore, and this gentle side was the real Alaric.

“Stand up and try them out,” Alaric said, pulling her up.
