Chapter 254

Chapter 254

Someone this amazing, he was determined to keep her close, no matter what. Shoes picked, the two of them headed out together.

As soon as they left, the clerk couldn’t hold back and let out a fangirl squeal.

“You guys have no idea! That couple was just so sweet, the boyfriend was unbelievably gentle and thoughtful.

I’m seriously jealous…” she gushed to her coworkers, totally freaking out.

Ophelia and Alaric hadn’t even made it far, they were still close enough to catch every word the clerk was saying.

Ophelia’s cheeks flushed hot all over again, her heart racing restlessly in her chest.

Alaric’s lips curled into a soft smile, his eyes so full of warmth it was almost overwhelming.

Ophelia stepped out of the bathroom after her shower:

She sat down on the edge of the bed, towel-drying her hair.

Her heart was a mess, and she just couldn’t get Alaric out of her head no matter what.

That gentle, sincere look he’d given her, she’d never seen him like that before. Honestly, before tonight, she

never would’ve believed Alaric could look at anyone that way.

“When he’s not causing trouble, he’s actually kind of charming,” Ophelia muttered to herself.

She didn’t even notice it, but there was already a smile in her eyes.

She was still lost in thought when her phone suddenly rang.

Snapping back to reality, she glanced at the screen and saw it was Ella, so she picked up.

“Boss, your uncle Asher is seriously impossible to deal with,” Ella whined, her voice full of misery.

Ophelia raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in her voice. “What did he do this time?”

“Ugh,” Ella sighed, sounding totally exasperated. “I’ve already made it clear I only want to work with Rowle Group’s headquarters, but he just won’t let up.

“He keeps begging for a chance, insisting on meeting you, and now he even sent people over pretending to be from other companies just to trick me into working with him. Seriously, how shameless can he get?”

“He’s probably just panicking,” Ophelia said with a cold, mocking glance.

Asher and Henry were never up to the task and always causing trouble, otherwise, Tristan wouldn’t have packed them off abroad.

“Whatever, we’re not giving him a shot anyway,” Ella said, totally unfazed. Then she dropped her voice, sounding all sneaky. “Boss, I heard Mr. Caldwell carried you out. Spill, what was that all about?”

Ophelia’s lips twitched in helpless amusement. “So that’s what you’re really after, huh?”

‘Knew it. There was nothing urgent, so why was Ella so desperate to call?’ Ophelia thought, rolling her eyes.

“Hey, I’m just looking out for you, Boss! So, spill it, what’s the deal with you and Mr. Caldwell? Why did he carry you out like that?

“Were you feeling sick or is there something going on between you two?” Ella bombarded her with questions, her tone pure gossip mode.

“Just ran into a little trouble, but it’s nothing now,” Ophelia dodged, giving her a half-hearted answer.

Ophelia could see right through Ella, she was just here for the gossip.

Hearing that Ophelia didn’t want to say more, Ella gave a tentative “oh” and said, “Alright, as long as you’re okay. Let’s talk more when we meet up tomorrow
