Chapter 256

Chapter 256

The more Layla dwelled on it, the deeper her hatred grew. She honestly wished she could just end Ophelia right then and there.

“Are you insane? Attacking someone in broad daylight?” Ella glared at Layla, just pissed off and completely losing it.

“Yeah, I’m totally crazy!” Layla screamed, her voice cracking with rage. “But it’s all her fault, she pushed me to this!”

Ella snorted, unable to hold back her sarcasm. “Seriously, are you brain-damaged or something? She drove you crazy? She doesn’t even want to deal with you. She thinks even glancing at you would dirty her eyes.”

‘Wow, she’s really talking herself up. As if she deserves any of Ophelia’s attention, Ella thought.

“Ophelia, don’t think you’ve won. I won’t let you get away with this!” Layla shouted, her rage practically setting her on fire.

“You? Please.” Ophelia gave Layla a cold, dismissive look and let out a mocking laugh. “Don’t overestimate yourself. You’d be better off worrying about what you’re gonna say to the cops.”

Layla was so consumed by rage that Ophelia’s warning barely registered. She bared her teeth, her eyes burning with spite.

“Fine! I’ll tell the cops every dirty detail, how you ruined Aaron, how you got your adoptive mother locked up. Just wait, everyone will know how heartless and ungrateful you really are,” Layla said.

She let out a triumphant laugh, as if she could already see Ophelia being torn apart by the crowd.

“Quit grinning like an idiot. The real ungrateful ones are the Vossen family. If it weren’t for Boss, you guys would never have had your glory days,” Ella shot back, her voice brimming with anger.

“If you hadn’t been so heartless, always chasing after wealth and turning your back on people when they needed you most, the Vossen family wouldn’t be in this mess now. You brought all of this on yourselves,” Ella continued.

“Ella, call the cops,” Ophelia said, not even bothering to say another word to Layla.

“Got it,” Ella replied, already pulling out her phone to call the police.

Layla’s face turned pale, and she looked away in frustration. But then her eyes caught sight of the dagger lying nearby, and her hands instinctively tightened for a moment.

A split second later, Layla suddenly lunged forward, grabbed the dagger, and went straight for Ophelia. Ophelia, if I’m dying, you’re coming with me!” Layla barked.

“Boss, look out!” Ella was still on the phone when she glanced up and saw what was happening, her heart nearly stopped from sheer terror.

Not even thinking, Ella lunged between Ophelia and the blade, desperate to block the knife.

Ophelia couldn’t believe Layla was actually hell-bent on taking her down, one failed attack wasn’t enough, she was coming at her for round two.

Ophelia lunged forward, grabbed Ella’s hand, and barely managed to pull her out of harm’s way. But Layla had totally lost it, just started slashing around like a lunatic, not caring who she hit.

After yanking Ella to safety, Ophelia didn’t have time to dodge herself, the knife caught her arm, drawing blood. Ophelia barely furrowed her brow, then spun and delivered another ruthless kick to Layla.

This time, she didn’t hold back at all. Layla crumpled to the ground, her face twisted in pain, clutching her stomach and curling up like a wounded animal.

She tried to get up, but her body just wouldn’t cooperate, she could only lie there, gasping and defeated.

“Boss, are you okay?” Ella finally snapped out of it, fussing over Ophelia’s arm and grumbling, “This is all my
