Chapter 260
Chapter 260
Just as she was about to leave, she paused, a sly glint flashing in her eyes.
She sneaked her hand back through the door, whipped out her phone, and snapped a quick pic.
She checked her secret snap: Ophelia was nestled against Alaric’s shoulder, and he was looking at her like she was his whole world.
“Wow, talk about a mood! You two seriously still gonna deny you’ve got some secret thing going on?” Ella grinned like she’d just won the lottery.
Feeling very pleased with herself, Ella stashed her phone and finally went off to do her own thing. Ophelia slept right through in the office, not even realizing she’d napped all the way to lunchtime.
The commotion outside roused her, and she groggily opened her eyes, still half-dazed.
“Huh?” Something was definitely off. Ophelia jolted awake, and as she came to, it hit her, wait, what was going on?
Ophelia blinked awake, meeting Alaric’s soft, affectionate gaze. Her eyes flew open in shock. “Wait, why are you still here?”
Alaric put on a pitiful look, rolling his shoulder like it was half numb. “You just couldn’t let me go, Ophelia. You clung to me all morning, I was basically trapped,” he said.
Ophelia immediately caught his drift, her lips twitching in exasperation. “Oh, please. No one was clinging to you. You’re the one who refused to budge.”
Honestly, she had no clue how her head ended up on his shoulder. Sure, she’d been asleep, but he definitely hadn’t, he’d just decided to stick around on purpose. ‘Typical Alaric, always playing the victim,’ she grumbled inwardly.
‘Wait… so I slept for ages, and he just stayed here the whole time?’ Ophelia thought, a bit dazed.
She bit her lip, shooting a glance at his arm with mixed feelings. ‘Maybe his arm really is sore,’ she wondered.
Noticing her change in expression, Alaric arched an eyebrow.
Alaric suddenly leaned in, his voice full of meaning. “Ophelia, that look, are you getting all sentimental because I stuck around for you?”
“Uh…” Ophelia was totally thrown off and instinctively jerked back.
She was just trying to scoot away from him, but her center of gravity betrayed her and she ended up flopping backward.
Alaric instinctively wrapped an arm around her waist, but since he was so close, she dragged him down with her.
The two of them crashed onto the couch in a heap, both yelping in surprise. “Ah!”
“Boss, are you okay?” Ella blurted out, bursting through the door with obvious worry.
She’d just come to grab Ophelia for lunch, but as soon as she heard Ophelia yell, she couldn’t help but rush in. She definitely hadn’t expected to walk in on this kind of scene…
“Uh… Boss, I swear I didn’t mean to barge in, haha…” Ella panicked, awkwardly laughing as she beat a hasty retreat and slammed the door shut behind her.
Ophelia just blinked, totally stunned, before she finally turned to look at Alaric.
But he was already leaning down toward her, and in that Instant, her lips accidentally grazed the corner of his mouth.
Her mind exploded in a haze, Ophelia was left completely blank for a moment.
Alaric’s eyes narrowed, and he lazily traced his finger over where her lips had touched, flashing her a devilish
