Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 261

Chapter 261

Chapter 261

Ophelia shot up from her seat, looking a little flustered as she walked over to her desk. Then she called out, Ella, come in.”

Ella poked her head in, grinning. “Hope I’m not interrupting anything.”

‘Wow, these two are moving fast!’ Ella thought to herself.

Ophelia shot her a glare, and Ella just gave an awkward smile and shut up.

Scratching her head, Ella tried to change the topic. “Boss, it’s lunchtime.”

‘Is Boss blaming me?’ Ella wondered.

‘I really didn’t mean to walk in at such a bad time. I just heard her call and thought something was up, how was I supposed to know I’d pick the worst moment?’ she thought.

“Boss, you…” Ella nervously twisted her index fingers together, looking guilty as she glanced at Ophelia. She wanted to explain, but hesitated, worried that speaking up now might just make Ophelia even more upset.

Ophelia sighed, a little resigned, and said to Ella, “Just go have lunch on your own.”

“So, are you having lunch with Mr. Caldwell?” Ella asked, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

Ophelia frowned, and Ella instantly clammed up.

“Come on, it’s lunchtime,” Alaric said, strolling over with a playful smile as he invited Ophelia.

Ophelia shot him a look. ‘Seriously? Ella’s already jumping to conclusions, and you don’t even try to keep things low-key?’ she grumbled inwardly.

Alaric just acted oblivious to her warning glare, shrugged, and said, “Or we could just order something and eat right here in your office. No big deal.”

“I’d rather not,” Ophelia replied instinctively.

He’d already spent the whole morning in her office, if they stayed in for lunch too, people outside would definitely start talking about their relationship.

With a troubled look, Ophelia stood up and sighed, “Let’s go. Let’s call Ryan to join us.”

‘Maybe I should just bring Ella and Ryan along, Ophelia thought, feeling a bit helpless.

Right now, she really didn’t want to be alone with Alaric.

‘Ugh, why am I so jittery around him? My heart’s all over the place and I just want to bolt, Ophelia thought, feeling a wave of unexplained anxiety.

‘Every time I see him, those memories just won’t leave me alone. It’s so awkward, I feel like I’m about to panic, she admitted to herself, flustered.

“Boss, Ryan went back to the Caldwell Group,” Ella said cautiously, swallowing hard and sneaking a glance at Alaric before adding, “I already made plans to grab lunch with some coworkers, so I won’t be joining you guys.”

With that, Ella turned and made a beeline for the door.

But then Alaric spoke up, his tone casual as ever. “Just send me one too.”

“Wait, what?” Ella stopped in her tracks, looking baffled for a second, then it hit her. “Oh! Sure, no problem!”

“Send what?” Ophelia frowned, looking confused.

Ella turned back with a strained smile. “Boss, you should ask Mr. Caldwell about that.”

‘No way am I saying anything about this, Ella thought, feeling a wave of panic.

‘Come on, how am I supposed to admit I was sneaking photos?’ she groaned inwardly.

And the worst part? Mr. Caldwell himself caught me, and now he wanted me to send him one!

‘If Boss ever finds out, she’ll probably drown me in work until I drop, Ella thought, her heart pounding.
