Chapter 263
Chapter 263
“W-What’s Mr. Caldwell doing here?” someone stammered.
“No one said he’d be here, another whispered.
The place was packed, but suddenly, it was dead silent.
“So what if Mr. Caldwell’s here? Does he really think he can stop us from reporting the truth?” Cameron retorted, refusing to back down.
The other reporters all glared at Cameron, clearly annoyed. One of them grumbled, “If you’ve got a death wish, leave us out of it. Offend Mr. Caldwell, and one can forget about working in Dunhollow ever again.”
“Everything he said is a lie, Alaric said coldly, stepping in to defend Ophelia. The police are already investigating, and the evidence is solid. There’s no room for doubt.”
After a brief pause, Alaric’s voice cut through the silence again, sharp and commanding. “Do you all know how to report this?”
“Yes, Mr. Caldwell. We’ll report it exactly as you want, one of the reporters stammered, clearly nervous. Alaric remained silent, and the unsaid words hung in the air, heavy and palpable.
After exchanging nervous glances for a moment, someone finally ventured, “We won’t report a single word about this.”
“Mm.” Alaric let out a low hum of approval, finally satisfied.
The reporters all breathed a sigh of relief, some even wiping sweat from their foreheads.
Some of the reporters couldn’t help sneaking glances at Ophelia, secretly stunned at just how fiercely Mr. Caldwell was defending her. ‘Wow, he actually spoke up for Ms. Draven, he never even bothers to explain himself, they thought, unable to hide their surprise.
“It’s not like you can’t report it,” Ophelia said, her voice icy, with a hint of something deeper.
The reporters shot Ophelia complicated looks, clearly unsure what she was getting at.
Ophelia’s lips curled into a mysterious, almost enigmatic smile as she spoke. “Not long ago, there was a kidnapping near the overpass… I bet you know exactly what I’m talking about, Mr. Vossen.”
Cameron’s heart skipped a beat, and his face turned deathly pale.
‘So Ophelia knows I was the one behind it?’ Cameron thought, his stomach twisting with panic.
‘Is that why she went after Mr. Kingston? Has she been playing me all along, and she’s got me completely figured out?’ he wondered, his mind spinning out of control.
The more Cameron thought about it, the more the fear grew, chilling him straight to the bone.
‘Did she really dig up something on me? How the hell does she have this kind of power? Cameron thought, panic rising in his chest.
Ophelia watched Cameron’s face shift through a dozen emotions, a mocking smile tugging at her lips.
‘You think you’re so clever, hiding your tracks. But I’m just giving you payback, fair and square, Ophelia thought, her eyes cold and unwavering.
‘Don’t you care about the Vossen Group? Don’t you care about power and status? she sneered inwardly.
Too bad, I’m not letting you get any of it. You should’ve known the moment you came after me: mess with me, and you pay the price, she thought, her resolve unshakable.
“Ophelia, let’s go,” Alaric said, taking her hand and leading her to the car in full view of everyone.
The reporters all breathed a collective sigh of relief, the tension finally melting away.
“Man, that was close. We almost got run out of Dunhollow,” one of them muttered.
“Hey, was Ophelia for real about what she just said?” one of the reporters blurted out, unable to hold back his

As soon as he spoke, the whole crowd swarmed around Cameron, closing in on him from all sides.

Ophelia let out a long sigh in the car. “If he really came here to challenge me for Layla’s sake, I’d actually give him credit for having some guts.”
