Chapter 265
Chapter 265
For a moment, Zoe couldn’t figure out which pissed her off more, losing to Ophelia or getting dissed by her. She didn’t even dare to talk big and tell Ophelia to join the monthly exam for a showdown, because she knew she’d get crushed.
Looking at the table full of delicious food, Zoe suddenly lost her appetite. It all tasted like cardboard to her.
Watching Zoe eat like a robot, Ophelia curled her lips into a cold smirk. ‘Is that all it takes to break you?’ she thought.
“Ophelia, if you’re not joining the exam, what about that bet you made with Zoe?” Owen asked, looking genuinely curious. He still wasn’t letting it go.
“Just forget it. It was just a joke anyway,” Ophelia said, picking up a drumstick and dropping it onto Owen’s plate. “Hurry up and eat.”
This kid really knows how to twist the knife; Ophelia thought.
Zoe was on the verge of a breakdown, and he just wouldn’t let it go.
“Well, if Ophelia’s busy, let’s just drop it,” Adrian said with a smile.
Owen shrugged dismissively. “Guess that’s that.”
Then, he leaned in close to Ophelia and whispered, “Honestly, I think you totally would’ve won.”
Even though he tried to keep his voice down, Zoe still overheard. Her face went from pale to livid in an instant.
“I’m full. You guys go ahead,” Zoe said through gritted teeth, trying to sound nonchalant.
“Are you sure? You barely ate anything,” Victoria asked, her voice full of concern. “Are you feeling okay?”
“No, I’m fine. I had some street food with my friends after school, so I’m not really hungry. I’m heading upstairs,” Zoe said, then turned and went up.
“Ophelia, do you think Zoe’s just happy she dodged buying you that limited-edition bag, so she ran off to her room to celebrate?” Owen couldn’t help but tease.
“Just eat,” Ophelia said, shaking her head, half amused and half helpless. ‘This kid’s got a tongue like poison, she thought.
Zoe’s steps faltered for a moment, then she picked up the pace and hurried away.
Just before stepping into the elevator, she shot Ophelia a venomous glare.
‘Ophelia, don’t get too cocky just yet, Zoe thought.
After dinner, Ophelia headed back to her room.
She lifted her shirt to check the bandage on her arm and let out a deep sigh. ‘Taking a shower with this injury is such a pain, she thought.
Sitting on the edge of her bed, zoning out, Ophelia couldn’t help but picture Alaric tending to her injury, carefully bandaging her arm.
Her cheeks grew warm without her realizing it, and she smacked herself on the forehead in frustration.
“Ophelia, what are you even thinking about? Why am I thinking about Alaric again?” Ophelia let out a long sigh.
Lately, she just couldn’t stop thinking about him, and he’d even sneak into her dreams sometimes.
It was like he’d wormed his way into every part of her life, and no matter what she did, she just couldn’t get rid of him.

But the air was so tense, it felt suffocating.
“Dad, she’s really out to get us,” Carter growled, his face dark with anger.
