Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 275

Chapter 275

Chapter 275

Just as Ophelia was about to check things out, Zoe stepped out.

“Yikes!” Zoe yelped when she saw Ophelia standing at the door.

“What are you doing in Oliver’s study?” Ophelia asked, her brows furrowing as she sized Zoe up.

Zoe’s gaze flickered, her face turning pale and flustered. “I-it’s nothing. I just noticed the light was on in Oliver’s study, so I thought I’d turn it off.”

“Is that so?” Ophelia’s vibe turned icy, making it obvious she didn’t believe a word Zoe said.

Zoe forced herself to act cool. “Yeah, unless you think I’m here to steal something, Ophelia?”

Zoe even spread her arms wide, like, ‘Go ahead, search me if you want.’

Ophelia gave her a sideways glance, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “I never said that. Why are you so jumpy? Feeling guilty about something?”

Zoe’s face went even paler as she shot back instinctively, “Of course not! You’re the one grilling me like I’m a suspect, so what else am I supposed to say?”

“Don’t go snooping around in other people’s studies, especially Oliver’s,” Ophelia said, then walked off without another word, leaving Zoe standing there.

Ophelia hadn’t seen Zoe actually do anything, but her showing up here right now was just seriously suspicious.

She figured she should give Oliver a heads-up. After all, he was in charge of Rowle Group, and there were some sensitive company secrets that needed to be protected.

But more importantly, she had to find out what Zoe was really up to.

‘Was the light really left on?’ Ophelia thought, her eyes narrowing in suspicion.

‘Funny, I didn’t hear her turn the light off, she mused, not buying Zoe’s excuse.

‘Guilty as hell, but still putting up a front,’ Ophelia scoffed to herself.

Back in her room, Ophelia quickly washed up and lay down.

Staring up at the ceiling, her gaze grew somber.

She’d noticed Zoe acting differently lately, but she hadn’t caught Zoe doing anything specific yet. She still had no idea what Zoe was really after.

But Ophelia had a hunch that Zoe’s target was probably her.

‘Chloe took the fall and got sentenced. Is Zoe trying to get revenge for her?’ Ophelia wondered.

‘Zoe, if you’re dead set on making trouble for yourself, don’t expect me to show you any mercy, Ophelia thought coldly.

In Zoe’s room…

Zoe sat on the edge of her bed, still looking shaken, her face a sickly pale.

Ophelia showing up out of nowhere had scared her half to death.

‘But judging by Ophelia’s reaction, she probably hadn’t caught onto anything, just threw some shade because she doesn’t like me, Zoe thought.

If Ophelia had really found something, there’s no way she’d have let Zoe walk away that easily.

‘Looks like I’ll have to be even more careful from now on. I can’t let Ophelia catch me,’ Zoe muttered under her breath, her heart still pounding from the scare.

The next day…

After breakfast, Oliver was about to head out

“Oliver, wait up,” Ophelia called out.

Oliver turned back, raising an eyebrow. “What’s up?”

“I need to talk to you about something,” Ophelia said, nodding slightly as she got up, ready to leave with him.

“Oliver, Ophelia,” Zoe shot to her feet, her voice coming out sharper and more urgent than she meant.
