Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 276

Chapter 276

Chapter 276

“Oliver, you’ve been swamped with work lately. Don’t forget to take care of yourself, okay?” Zoe said, glancing over at him with a hint of concern.

“I’m used to it,” Oliver replied, his tone cool as ever, just giving her a brief nod.

Zoe let out a sheepish laugh. “True, running the whole company does keep you busy.”

Then, as if just remembering, she turned to Ophelia and feigned curiosity. “By the way, Ophelia, what did you want to talk to Oliver about? We’re almost there, aren’t you going to bring it up now?”

“Oh, it’s nothing urgent. I can talk to him at the office,” Ophelia replied with a breezy, indifferent smile.

Zoe’s face turned ashen, and she couldn’t help blurting out, “T-to the office?”

‘Why did I even bother tagging along?’ Zoe thought, her heart sinking.

‘So I still won’t get to hear what Ophelia wants to say to Oliver,’ she grumbled to herself.

‘Crap, if Ophelia tells Oliver about last night, he’ll start watching me like a hawk. I’ll never be able to pull anything off again, Zoe worried.

Zoe bit her lip, her eyes hopeful as she suggested, “I’ve never been to the office before. Can I tag along and see what it’s like?”

Ophelia raised an eyebrow, her voice full of doubt. “Didn’t you say you had plans with your classmate? Now you want to go to the office instead? Isn’t it a little rude to just ditch her like that?”

“Uh, I…” Zoe was instantly tongue-tied. ‘That was just a random excuse anyway, she thought, flustered.

“If you’ve got something to do, go handle it. The office isn’t a place to hang out, so don’t try to join in,” Oliver said coolly, giving Zoe a frosty look.

Zoe’s face drained of color, and she answered in a barely audible voice, “Okay, Oliver.”

Soon, they arrived at Rowle Group, and everyone got out of the car.

Watching Ophelia and Oliver walk into the company, Zoe’s face turned as dark as a thundercloud.

“Ophelia, you’re just trying to mess things up for me,” Zoe muttered through gritted teeth, glaring daggers at Ophelia’s back, wishing she could burn a hole right through her.

Even though she hadn’t heard a word, Zoe was absolutely sure Ophelia was about to snitch to Oliver.

The more she thought about it, the more her hatred burned. A shadow flickered in Zoe’s eyes as she turned and flagged down a cab, leaving without another word.

What Zoe didn’t realize was that the moment she left, Ophelia and Oliver showed up at the entrance of Rowle Group.

“Oliver, I’m not sure what she’s really after, but you should stay alert. I get the feeling she’s not targeting you, but the company itself,” Ophelia warned in a low voice.

“Got it,” Oliver replied, his already icy gaze turning even colder.

He’d actually sensed something was off with Zoe ever since that banquet, but so far, he hadn’t found any solid evidence.

“Honestly, I just wanted to test her today,” Ophelia said, shrugging with a smirk. “She took the bait so fast, classic guilty conscience.”

Oliver shot Ophelia a look, a faint, knowing smile in his eyes. “She’s nowhere near your level.”

Oliver hadn’t bothered to dig into Ophelia’s past, but he was sure she was hiding something big. Still, since she clearly wanted to keep it under wraps, he was happy to play along and respect her wishes.
