Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 278

Chapter 278

Chapter 278

“Grandpa spoils her more than any of us, even though we’ve been by his side our whole lives. She’s really outshined us.”

‘Is Felicity hinting that Ophelia is a bit calculating?’ someone thought, suspicion flickering in their eyes.

The atmosphere shifted uncomfortably, and everyone turned to look at Felicity.

Felicity’s expression seemed perfectly innocent, but her words sounded a little off.

“If Grandpa only felt at ease after I came back, maybe you guys should really reflect on yourselves. You’ve been with him all these years and still couldn’t make him happy.

“Maybe you haven’t been as filial as you think. Did you do something to make him mad?” Ophelia said, feigning confusion as she looked at Felicity.

‘If you want to stir up trouble on a happy day, fine, I’ll play along, Ophelia thought, her eyes glinting with a hint of mischief.

Felicity’s face turned pale as she bit back her frustration. “Ophelia, why would you say that? I was just praising you.”

“I didn’t hear that,” Ophelia said bluntly, then glanced around at the others. “Did any of you catch it?”

“Uh…” The group exchanged uneasy glances, no one quite sure what to say.

“Auntie Scarlett, Auntie Claire, is that what you think too?” Ophelia pressed, fixing them with a pointed look.

She hadn’t missed the way they were practically gloating just moments ago.

Claire bit back her annoyance, but managed a polite smile. “Ophelia, Felicity just didn’t choose her words well. I’ll make sure she thinks about what she did when we get home.”

“Be sure you do,” Ophelia replied, her tone cool and loaded with implication. “This isn’t just about me, it’s the whole Rowle Group’s reputation on the line.”

“Ophelia, it’s really not that big a deal. Why not just let it slide?” Zoe said softly, hoping to ease the tension.” The party’s going great, no need to kill the vibe.”

Ophelia gave Zoe a frosty look, her voice cutting. “If you know it’s a party, then just stay out of trouble. If you stir things up, it’ll make us all look bad. And when Grandpa steps in, don’t start complaining that he’s being unfair.”

‘Seriously, are they all brainless? Even at a party, they can’t help but take shots at me. Do they really think dragging me down makes them look good?’ Ophelia thought, her patience wearing thin.

Felicity and Zoe’s faces went pale, then green with frustration as Ophelia scolded them. They were seething inside but forced to swallow it.

And honestly, Ophelia was right. If they kept stirring things up and Grandpa found out, he wouldn’t hesitate to punish them.

“Ophelia, please don’t be mad. I really didn’t mean it that way, I was just trying to praise you.

“After all, you didn’t grow up with the Rowle family, but you’re doing better than any of us. You really deserve the praise,” Felicity said, putting on her best apologetic face.

Ophelia scoffed to herself. ‘Wow, talk about a drama queen. Even now, she’s still putting on a performance for

everyone.’

Ophelia just shrugged, sounding calm but with a hint of sarcasm. “I’m not mad, and whether I grew up with the Rowle family doesn’t matter.

“Since you admit you’re not doing as well as me, let me give you a tip, it’s all about where your heart is. If things aren’t working out for you, maybe you just don’t care enough.

“Instead of showering me with compliments, maybe you should tre learning a thing or two from me.”
