Chapter 280
Chapter 280
“Uh…” Ophelia cut in, sounding a bit exasperated. “If you guys want to talk business, why not take it over there? Looks like a better spot for your work talk.”
‘I’m honestly so done with all this under-the-surface drama between these two. If they’ve got some personal grudge, they should just hash it out somewhere else, Ophelia thought.
‘Are we supposed to sit here and play referee for you two?’ she grumbled inwardly.
Alaric turned to Ophelia, instantly switching to a gentle look. “Ophelia, there’s really nothing for me to talk about with that guy.”
Ophelia’s lips twitched. ‘Nothing to talk about, huh? Then why are you two busy throwing death stares at each other?’ she thought.
“Then you should head over there too. Honestly, this conversation isn’t for you anyway,” Ophelia said, sounding a bit annoyed. She turned to Mr. Brown, offering a polite smile. “Mr. Brown, feel free to do as you like. I won’t hold you up.”
“Much appreciated, Ms. Rowle,” Mr. Brown replied, his gaze softening, his voice gentle.
Ophelia gave a slight nod, then slipped her arm through Victoria’s, smiling. “Mom, let’s go over there. You said you wanted to introduce me to your old friends.”
“Alright, let’s go,” Victoria replied, giving Ophelia’s hand a gentle pat, her eyes full of affection.
As the two women walked away, Alaric’s gaze turned cold as ice once again.
‘Mr. Brown coming to Dunhollow to expand his business? Yeah right. The way he looks at Ophelia makes my skin crawl. I swear, I’d rip those eyes out if I could,’ Alaric fumed inwardly, jealousy simmering beneath the surface.
Mr. Brown caught Alaric’s possessive glare, he could see right through him.
But honestly, he couldn’t care less.
He gave Alaric a polite nod, then turned and made his way over to Oliver.
Alaric’s gaze darkened for a moment, and the chilling presence he gave off made nobody dare get close.

Meanwhile, Ophelia and Victoria strolled along, chatting as they went.
“Ophelia, how did you meet Mr. Brown anyway?” Victoria asked, her curiosity getting the better of her. ‘There’s something about that man… he’s definitely not your average guy, she thought to herself.
“It just kind of happened,” Ophelia said with a casual smile, trying to put Victoria at ease. “Mom, seriously, don’ t worry about him. If he sticks around Dunhollow, that’s his own deal. It’s not like we’ll be running into each other all the time.”
‘Honestly, we were just two strangers passing by, he was my patient once, I treated him, he paid, end of story. If we bump into each other again, a quick hello is all it takes. Nothing more, nothing less,’ Ophelia thought to herself.
“But I just get this weird vibe from him when it comes to you,” Victoria said, her brow furrowed.
“Mom, whether he’s weird or not, that’s really not our problem. At most…” Ophelia paused, stepping back. “If he’ s serious about doing business in Dunhollow, he’ll probably have to work with Oliver.”
After all, the Rowle Group is one of the top players in Dunhollow, they’re bound to cross paths on some project sooner or later.
“Victoria, this must be your daughter! She’s absolutely gorgeous,” one of Victoria’s old friends exclaimed.
