Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 282

Chapter 282

Chapter 282

“Come on, you were dying to kiss me. Now you’re acting like it’s all my fault?” Alaric teased, his voice low and playful.

“Shut up,” Ophelia snapped, shooting him a glare. “Who wants to kiss you? I just want to keep my distance from you.”

“Are you really sure about that, Ophelia?” Alaric said, a smile glinting in his eyes as he tightened his hold around her.

Ophelia’s cheeks turned scarlet. She was so busy arguing with him, she hadn’t even noticed he’d been holding her the whole time.

“Let go of me,” Ophelia said, glancing around the venue. Thankfully, no one was paying them any attention.

Seeing how flustered she was, Alaric gave her a wounded look. “So you don’t want to go public with us? Are you planning to keep me as your underground boyfriend or something?”

“Underground boyfriend?” Ophelia felt her temples throb as she glared at him, teeth clenched. “There’s nothing going on between us. We’re not even a thing.”

‘He’s got guts, saying stuff like “underground boyfriend” out loud, Ophelia thought, exasperated.

“Not even a thing? Then what do you call that kiss just now?” Alaric protested, sounding all hurt.

Ophelia’s lips twitched, she was this close to knocking him out cold.

“Can we just say I was sleepwalking? Now let go of me,” Ophelia snapped, stomping hard on his foot to try and make him release her.

But not only did Alaric let go, he even managed to dodge her sneak attack.

Ophelia gritted her teeth in frustration, her cheeks burning red with anger, she was honestly way too cute when she was pissed off, not that she’d ever admit it.

Alaric’s grin only deepened. He could still feel the delicate curve of her waist in his arms, and her unique scent lingered in his senses, he found himself craving her all over again.

“Still got that stupid grin?” Ophelia shot him a glare, thinking she’d love nothing more than to wipe that smug look off his face with a punch.

“You were so bold today, Ophelia. How could I not be happy?” Alaric teased, running his finger slowly over his lips as if he could still taste her there.

Ophelia’s face fell, and she didn’t hesitate to take a swing at him.

‘Nope, can’t hold back anymore,’ Ophelia thought, her patience snapping.

‘This guy is just begging for a beating. My fists are itching for a workout if I don’t smack him,’ she muttered to herself.

Alaric dodged her punch with ease, then caught her hand and immediately started begging for mercy, his voice soft and coaxing. “Alright, alright, I was wrong. Don’t be mad, okay?”

‘She’s got such thin skin, looks like I really got her riled up this time, Alaric mused, a little amused.

Ophelia shook her arm, and Alaric let go right away, playing along. “If you really have to hit me, just don’t go for the face, alright? How am I supposed to explain my face to everyone out there?”

Ophelia shot him a sideways glance, feeling a wave of helplessness rise up inside.

He was saying all the right things to calm her down, but underneath it all, he was still low-key threatening her.

If she actually landed a punch, she had zero doubt he’d go out there and announce to everyone that she’d hit him. He really wasn’t afraid of embarrassing himself.
