Chapter 285
Chapter 285
Ophelia’s lips twitched slightly. ‘Seriously? He can still joke around at a time like this?’ she thought.
“But I’m really stubborn, you know. I’m already yours, Ophelia, so there’s no way I’m letting anyone else take advantage of me,” Alaric said, lifting his chin with a smug look, clearly fishing for praise.
“Guess the drug wasn’t strong enough,” Ophelia said, her irritation fading a bit as she couldn’t help but tease him.
“Ophelia, you don’t care about me at all,” Alaric complained, sounding a little hurt. “I’ve been keeping myself pure just for you, you know.”
“If you don’t shut up, we’re not going to the hospital. We’re hitting a bar instead. I bet that’ll solve your problem way faster. With a face like yours, I’m sure plenty of people would be lining up to throw themselves at you,” Ophelia said, her voice tinged with frustration.
The drug he was hit with was obviously no joke to deal with, but Alaric still had the nerve to act like nothing was wrong and even joke around.
Alaric smirked, lips curling in a cocky grin. “You wouldn’t have the heart to do that, Ophelia.”
“Go ahead and try,” Ophelia shot him a sharp glare, her eyes full of warning.
“In that case, forget the bar. Let’s just do it right here,” Alaric said, and before Ophelia could react, he yanked her over and pinned her to the seat, his kiss fierce and possessive.
“Hey, Alaric!” Ophelia protested, pushing at him in frustration. “Don’t use the drug as an excuse to act like a brute!”
Alaric was already addicted to her taste, and now, with the drug burning through him, his last bit of sanity was slipping away. All he could think about was getting closer, and then closer still.
Ophelia pushed at him again and again, but she couldn’t break free. His lips were locked on hers, and she couldn’t even get a word out.
Frustration and anger bubbled up inside her, and her eyes grew red with emotion.
Her hand darted to his waist, grabbed a handful of soft flesh, and pinched him hard.
For a moment, Alaric’s mind cleared. He froze and looked down at her.
Seeing the redness in her eyes hit him hard, and he instantly sat up straight, almost jumping away.
Ophelia sat up, biting her lip, feeling totally flustered and annoyed inside.
‘Ugh, what a jerk. I’m so done with him, she thought, refusing to care about him anymore.
“Ophelia, I feel so bad,” Alaric whined, sounding utterly pitiful, like a puppy that had been left behind.
Ophelia shot him a resentful glare, but seeing him hugging his head and curling up like that, she couldn’t stay mad at him anymore.
The drug he’d been hit with was seriously potent. Even someone as tough as Alaric had already held out for way longer than most people could.
Gritting her teeth, Ophelia made a quick move, pulled out a needle, and jabbed it right into one of his pressure points.
In the next instant, Alaric lay quietly on the seat, not moving a muscle.
Seeing the way his brows were still furrowed, Ophelia knew that even though she’d put him to sleep with the needle, it was just a band-aid solution. The effects of the drug were still lingering.
Still, at least he was knocked out now. That was way better than making him fight through it awake.
Her eyes wandered, and before she realized it, she was staring at his lips. For a moment, her mind went completely blank.
The memory of him pinning her down and kissing her fiercely flooded her mind, making her heart skip a beat
