Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 293

Chapter 293

Chapter 293

“Mr. Caldwell, you should know you weren’t supposed to be here for this meal,” George retorted, his tone laced with sarcasm after Alaric’s jab.

“I think you’ve misunderstood, Mr. Brown,” Alaric sald, setting down his fork and meeting George’s gaze with icy calm. “As Ophelia’s fiancé, I have every right to be here.”

“Isn’t that right, Ophelia?” Alaric added, turning to her with a gentle smile, making his claim on her unmistakably clear.

George let out a mocking laugh, refusing to back down. “As far as I know, while the engagement between the Caldwell and Rowle families hasn’t been called off, it’s still not clear which Rowle daughter will be the one to

marry.

“Mr. Caldwell, you might be jumping the gun by calling yourself Ms. Rowle’s fiancé.”

Alaric’s expression darkened. George had clearly come prepared.

“You don’t need to worry about that, Mr. Brown. Ophelia has already agreed to marry me,” Alaric replied, his confidence radiating as he sat back, looking like he had this in the bag.

George’s face fell instantly, and he instinctively glanced at Ophelia.

‘Are they really engaged now?’ George wondered.

‘But according to my intel, that’s not the case, right?’ he thought, a flicker of doubt crossing his mind.

‘Could my information be wrong?’ he wondered, a hint of unease creeping in.

Ophelia was caught off guard by Alaric’s words, her eyes flashing a warning as she glanced at him.

Alaric just smiled, his eyes twinkling as he kept serving her food. “Ophelia, eat up. These are all the dishes you love.”

“Alaric, will you cut it out?” Ophelia muttered through gritted teeth, keeping her voice low.

Even though he was talking nonsense, for some reason, she didn’t feel like contradicting him in front of

everyone.

Alaric smirked, raising an eyebrow in triumph. ‘See? Ophelia still cares about me,’ he thought.

Ophelia rolled her eyes at him, full of complaints. ‘Childish Mr. Caldwell,’ she grumbled inwardly.

George watched the way they interacted, his eyes narrowing for a moment.

He could tell they weren’t all that close, but Ophelia definitely treated Alaric differently than she did anyone else.

After lunch, everyone headed out of the restaurant.

“Mr. Brown, I’ll get the collaboration proposal revised ASAP and let you know once it’s done,” Ophelia said, her tone polite but efficient.

“I’ll be waiting for your update, Ms. Draven,” George replied with a gentle nod.

Ophelia gave a courteous smile. “Take care, Mr. Brown. Goodbye.”

George glanced over at Alaric. “Aren’t you leaving, Mr. Caldwell?”

“No rush. Ophelia and I still have things to discuss,” Alaric said with a smug smirk. “Take your time, Mr. Brown. Sorry that I won’t be seeing you out.”

Alaric was clearly doing it on purpose, and George’s face grew even darker.

But with no excuse to stay, George could only leave, looking pretty annoyed.

George’s expression darkened the moment he got in the car.

“Boss, I’m afraid Mr. Caldwell might ruin your plans,” his assistant said, worry in his voice.

“He’s a tough one to deal with,” George replied, his eyes growing even colder, a chill settling over his features.
