Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 31

**Paths Lead To Purpose — Kevin Masters**
**Chapter 31**

Elijah’s frustration boiled over as he surveyed the scene, his eyes narrowing at Abigail’s unreasonable stance. He signaled to several security guards, who surged forward with an air of authority, confronting Abigail and her entourage of three or four imposing bodyguards. “Are you leaving or not?” he demanded, his voice steady but laced with urgency.

The security detail at Dunhollow Hospital was no small force—over ten guards stood ready, their presence formidable. Yet, as the tension escalated and it became clear that reason was failing, Abigail’s temper ignited like a firestorm. “Ophelia, just you wait,” she spat, her voice sharp and filled with venom.

Never in her wildest dreams did she think she would find herself outmaneuvered by Ophelia, even with the added muscle of her guards.

Ophelia observed Abigail’s furious demeanor with a bemused smile, her confidence radiating. “Mrs. Vossen,” she said sweetly, “I can afford to wait indefinitely, but your son Aaron might not share that luxury. If you don’t come up with a solution soon, he could face serious charges. Assault isn’t something to take lightly, you know.”

As the words hung in the air, one of Abigail’s bodyguards leaned in, his voice low and conspiratorial. “Mrs. Vossen, I’ve heard whispers that Mr. Vossen nearly attacked Ms. Vossen, which is why he’s facing charges of intentional harm. If we could just secure a settlement agreement from Ms. Vossen—”

Abigail’s frustration bubbled to the surface, her teeth grinding as she snapped, “I will not beg her for anything. Let’s go.” She was determined to find another way, convinced that there had to be a solution that didn’t involve her reaching out to Ophelia.

“Mrs. Vossen,” Ophelia called after her, a mocking lilt in her voice, “I’ll be watching you. Don’t even think about coming to me for help.” The threat hung in the air, palpable and chilling.

Abigail stumbled slightly, the sting of Ophelia’s ridicule hitting her hard, and she hurried away, her pride wounded and her mind racing with thoughts of revenge.

As she retreated, the crowd began to disperse, the tension dissipating like fog in the morning sun.

Meanwhile, Ophelia was escorted deeper into the hospital by the attentive doctors and Connor, who was seething with anger. “Your stepmother and Aaron are both heartless,” he said, his voice thick with indignation as they walked. “She treats you terribly, and yet you still have to endure her slander.”

If Alaric hadn’t revealed the truth to him, Connor would never have brought Elijah to support Ophelia. He knew how easily she could have been dragged through the mud otherwise.

Ophelia let out a cold snort, her expression hardening. “Desperation has a way of revealing true colors. After all, Aaron is her precious son,” she replied, her tone dripping with disdain.

Connor chuckled, a warm sound that filled the air. “You saved my life, Ophelia. Getting you enrolled was the least I could do. Having you at my school is an honor. I’ll take good care of you; it’s only fair.”

With a smile, Connor began to look forward to their upcoming meeting, his heart light with anticipation.

Suddenly, he felt a piercing gaze directed at them. He turned slightly and spotted Alaric, his expression unreadable but intense.

The moment Alaric laid eyes on Ophelia, his face transformed, a bright smile breaking through. “Ms. Rowle, you truly are remarkable. Even before your arrival, the situation online was already under control,” he remarked, his tone layered with hidden implications.

Ophelia regarded him with a cautious eye, her instincts on high alert. “Mr. Caldwell, you seem quite interested in my affairs,” she retorted, her voice sharp and challenging.

*Is he already investigating me? He’s definitely curious,* she thought, her mind racing with possibilities.
