Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 315

Chapter 315

Chapter 315

“Even though he’s dead, the police will still make an official announcement about what he did. This won’t just be swept under the rug,” Alaric said, gently holding Ophelia’s hand, hoping it would bring her some comfort.

After everything she’d been through, it felt unfair that the culprit was gone just like that, leaving her with all that unresolved anger.

Ophelia looked up at him and gave a small smile. “Thank you.”

She couldn’t deny it. His words really did make her feel better.

It was like all that bottled-up frustration inside her just vanished.

A hint of fondness flashed in Alaric’s eyes, and he couldn’t help teasing her. “Don’t just say thanks. How about you show it with some action?”

Ophelia’s smile froze, and she instantly withdrew all the goodwill she’d just felt toward him.

‘This guy can’t be serious for even a second. And to think I actually thought he was dependable for a moment, she thought.

Ophelia cleared her throat and stood up, her tone cooling a bit. “I think you have a point. There are plenty of ways to say thank you. I’ll go home and discuss with my family what kind of gift would be suitable for you, Mr. Caldwell.”

Alaric let out a helpless laugh. ‘Looks like I went a bit too far with the teasing this time,’ he thought.

‘Ophelia never used to be like this. That brother of hers really spoiled her, Alaric grumbled inwardly.

Seeing Alaric all flustered and annoyed, Ophelia felt the last bit of frustration melt away. With a proud tilt of her chin, she shot him a look that said, ‘Bet you won’t try teasing me like that again.’

“Boss! Boss!” Ella came rushing in, practically shouting, “Cameron is dead!”

Ophelia, cool as ever, just patted her on the shoulder. “I already know.”

“You already know?” Ella blinked, surprised, then scratched her head, a little embarrassed. “Should’ve seen that coming.”

‘If Boss didn’t ask me to dig into it, someone else must’ve already been handling things,’ Ella thought.

“Alright, you don’t need to worry about this anymore. But care to explain something else?” Ophelia said, raising an eyebrow, her tone carrying a dangerous edge.

Ella, who knew Ophelia way too well, felt her guilty conscience kick in and her voice went small. “W-What is it?”

Her mind went blank, trying to remember if she’d done anything lately to piss off the Boss.

But that look on Ophelia’s face was all too familiar. Ella knew she was doomed.

Ophelia picked up Alaric’s phone and flashed it in front of Ella, a teasing smirk on her lips. “Mind telling me what this is about?”

She’d been shocked when she first saw the photo, but it didn’t take her long to realize it was her office, taken from the doorway, and it was obviously a candid shot.

So even though the photo was on Alaric’s phone, there was no way Alaric was the one who took it.

Which meant there was only one person it could be-Ella.

Ella’s face instantly fell, looking utterly miserable. “Boss, this… uh, haha, if I said it was an accident, would you actually buy that?”

“An accident, huh?” Ophelia arched an eyebrow with a teasing grin. “Are you even fooling yourself with that?”

Seriously, the photo ended up in Alaric’s phone and she still wants to claim it wasn’t intentional.

“I just… I went to your office that day, and you were asleep, so I got curious…” Ella stammered, mentally facepalming at her own stupidity.
