Chapter 317
Chapter 317
“Ophelia, right now, only I can see this. But if you keep pushing me, I might just get so worked up that I’ll let the whole internet see it. Everyone’s dying to know what Mrs. Caldwell looks like, you know.
“I could just upload this photo straight to the Caldwell Group CEO’s profile page and let the world take a peek,” Alaric teased, looking way too eager, like he was itching to hit send.
“Threatening me again, huh?” Ophelia narrowed her eyes, gritting her teeth. “You really think you can pull this off with me around?”
“I know all your tricks, but even tigers have to nap sometimes. I could have people posting this photo nonstop, twenty-four seven. Think you can keep up with that?” Alaric said, clearly not worried at all that Ophelia could actually stop him.
Ophelia’s face darkened, and she muttered in frustration, “Bring it on, then.”
With that, Ophelia lunged for Alaric’s phone. Worst case, she’d just swap his phone for a new one. One way or another, she was going to make him delete that photo.
She was standing while he sat. She lunged for the phone, and he dodged her every move.
She couldn’t risk hurting him since he was still recovering.
Realizing she was holding back, Alaric only got more mischievous.
Before long, Ophelia had Alaric pinned to the hospital bed, reaching for the phone he held above his head, and from the outside, it totally looked like Ophelia had just pounced on him.
Just then, Ryan walked in and was completely petrified, stunned by the scene in front of him.
‘Did I just walk in at the worst possible time?’ Ryan thought, feeling awkward.
內
‘Seriously? These two are getting all hot and heavy first thing in the morning, and they didn’t even bother to close the door?’ Ryan couldn’t help but think.
‘Whatever, I should probably just get out of here,’ Ryan thought, feeling awkward.
With that thought, Ryan quietly slipped out, trying to close the door behind him. But the thermos accidentally knocked against the doorframe, making a crisp, loud sound that instantly shattered the romantic tension in the room.
Ophelia turned toward the door, and Ryan, looking super awkward, waved his hands. “I swear I didn’t see anything! You guys do your thing, I’ll just be right outside.”
With that, Ryan actually slipped out and shut the door behind him.
Through the glass window, you could see Ryan standing guard at the door like a bouncer, obviously playing lookout so no one would interrupt them.
Ophelia’s lips twitched as she turned back to Alaric, only to meet his eyes sparkling with mischief. “Want to keep going?” he teased.
It sounded innocent enough, but in this moment, it was anything but normal.
‘Wait, keep going? Keep going with what?’ Ophelia thought, suddenly realizing the position she was in.
And that’s when it hit her. Her face went up in flames.
“You’re still laughing?” Ophelia shot him a death glare, her eyes full of frustration. ‘If he’d just gone along with it, nobody would’ve gotten the wrong idea. And now he’s actually finding this funny?’
“Delete it. Now,” Ophelia warned, bracing herself to get off him.
But Alaric just slipped his arms around her waist and, with a quick tug, had Ophelia sprawled right across his chest.
“Your injury!” Ophelia blurted out, her face changing in an instant.
Even while fighting for the phone, she’d been careful to avoid his wound, always making sure not to put any
