Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 320

Chapter 320

Chapter 320

No one could ever tell her what to do, and her grandpa had made it clear he’d never force her into getting married.

Honestly, it was just a verbal promise. There wasn’t even an engagement ceremony, so what was there to call off, really?

From the start, she’d never paid much attention to that so-called engagement.

She knew perfectly well that even though Alaric kept bringing up the engagement and calling her his fiancée, he was just paying lip service to the whole thing. Unless he actually wanted it, nobody could make him agree to anything.

That’s why she always felt Alaric was way too calculated with her. She never felt there was anything real between them, just his own agenda.

But this time, it was different. After all, Alaric had literally put his life on the line for her…

Suddenly, all those motives and schemes just didn’t seem important anymore.

“Ophelia?” George’s probing voice snapped her back to reality.

She realized she’d zoned out, actually thinking about Alaric, and felt a little embarrassed.

Ophelia glanced at George, shook her head, and didn’t bother to explain. She just steadied herself and said, “It’ s nothing. Let’s eat.”

“Alright,” George outwardly agreed, though he couldn’t help but feel a bit puzzled inside.

‘The way she looked just now… was she thinking of someone? Does she really care about that person?’ Kael wondered to himself.

But seeing that she clearly didn’t want to talk about it, George didn’t press her.

Pushing aside his confusion, George shifted the conversation to reminisce with Ophelia about his days recovering in Clearwater City.

Those days truly meant the world to him, rising from despair to hope, and finally seeing it all come true, all because she was there, supporting him every step of the way.

Honestly, everything he had now was only possible because of her.

“George, if you really want to be friends, then stop dwelling on the past,” Ophelia said, feeling a bit uneasy under his soft, almost tender gaze.

Sure, maybe she had saved his life, just like he said, but to her, it was just a doctor helping a patient. It wasn’t anything personal between her and George.

George was lost in his memories when Ophelia’s words hit him like a bucket of cold water, snapping him back to reality.

He gave an awkward smile and tried to explain, “For me, it was like getting a second chance at life, so I guess I got a little emotional.”

“If you’re so sentimental, Mr. Brown, why don’t you just go back to Clearwater City and reminisce all you want at home?” Alaric’s voice was cold, cutting straight through the moment.

Ophelia looked up, startled, meeting Alaric’s somber gaze. “What are you doing here?” she asked, genuinely confused.

‘Is he seriously running around when he’s still injured?’ Ophelia thought, frustrated.

“Ophelia, you’ve been gone for ages and didn’t come home. I was worried about you,” Alaric said, his eyes softening as soon as he looked at her.

“Didn’t I tell you I had things to do today? I asked Ryan to arrange someone to take care of you,” Ophelia said, frowning in annoyance. ‘He’s supposed to be resting, not out here doing whatever he wants, she thought.
