Chapter 324
Chapter 324
Back in the hospital room, the air felt heavy after Ophelia left.
Alaric stared at the door she’d just walked out of, his expression tangled with frustration and longing.
He was losing his grip around this girl, and he knew it. ‘I just hope she’s not shutting me out,’ he thought. ‘If she really gets pissed and hires a nurse to take care of me, I won’t even get a chance to see her every day!’

At New City Tower, Ella was surprised to see Ophelia show up. “Boss, what brings you here?”
“I need to whip up some medicine in the lab,” Ophelia replied, heading straight for the lab without another word. Ella scratched her head, confused. “What’s got her in such a rush?” she mumbled under her breath.
Once inside the lab, Ophelia unlocked her private medicine cabinet and carefully pulled out a few rare, hard-to- find meds.
These were her most prized treasures, stuff you couldn’t just pick up anywhere, but they were exactly what Alaric needed to heal up fast.
With everything laid out, Ophelia got to work, mixing up the special poultice.
She was so absorbed in her work that she didn’t even realize it was almost lunchtime.
“Finally, done,” Ophelia sighed, wiping the sweat from her forehead as she carefully packed up all the poultices. When Ophelia finally stepped out of the lab, Ella was waiting for her.
Ella breathed a huge sigh of relief when she saw her. “Boss, I seriously thought you were about to pull another all-nighter and skip meals again.”
‘Good thing you wrapped it up by noon this time.’ Ella thought.
“This batch wasn’t too complicated. If the hospital had all the medicine I needed, I wouldn’t have had to come all the way here,” Ophelia said, shooting Ella a look. “But with this medicine, in less than three days, I won’t have to babysit Mr. Caldwell at the hospital anymore.”
‘Once his wounds are healed, he can just take it easy and recover on his own. That means I can finally stop worrying about him.’ Ophelia thought to herself.
“Boss, you must be worried about Mr. Caldwell, huh? That’s why you’re personally making such good medicine for him,” Ella teased, leaning in toward Ophelia.
“I just want to get out of that hospital as soon as possible,” Ophelia explained, rolling her eyes at Ella.
Honestly, being with Alaric every single day was starting to feel more and more off.
She realized she didn’t have any defenses left around him. She actually welcomed his closeness now.
But was it just because she’d spent so much time with him lately, and maybe she’d just gotten used to him?
‘If that’s really it, I should just stay away from him… But if it’s not, then… what am I actually feeling for Alaric?’ Ophelia wondered, her thoughts a tangled mess.
“Boss, what’s got you so lost in thought?” Ella called out, snapping Ophelia out of her daze.
Ophelia glanced at Ella, brushing off the question. “It’s nothing. Let’s get to the office.”
Soon, the two of them headed to the office together.
“Boss, are you going to grab lunch here before heading back?” Ella asked.
“Yeah, I’ll eat here first,” Ophelia said. Since I’m already here, I’ll take a look around and see how things are going before I leave.
After sitting down, Ophelia glanced over the files on her desk and asked, “Everything going smoothly?”
“Yeah, everything’s running fine,” Ella replied, pausing for a moment before adding, “But about the Rowle Group bid, are you going to attend in person, Boss?”
