Chapter 328
Chapter 328
She swore, this guy was born to leave her speechless.
“Gives you a better view, doesn’t it?” Alaric said, his eyes glinting with mischief and a wicked grin playing at his lips.
Ophelia rolled her eyes at him and picked up the medicine patch, preparing to change his dressing.
She really didn’t feel like arguing with him. This guy couldn’t be serious for even a moment.
“Let’s change your dressing. Once I’m done, you need to rest,” Ophelia said, her tone turning cool and businesslike as she got ready to work.
For that moment, Alaric was just a patient to her, nothing else.
Alaric raised an eyebrow, but he actually cooperated and let her change his dressing.
Still, when he saw the medicine patch in Ophelia’s hand, he couldn’t help but feel a bit put off.
That stuff looked and smelled so off-putting, it was honestly hard to even deal with.
But seeing how focused Ophelia was, Alaric just gave in and shut his eyes, accepting his fate. ‘Whatever, this little hedgehog wouldn’t actually get back at me like this, he thought.
Even though Ophelia was all business, Alaric kept his eyes on her every move. A tiny smirk flickered at the corner of his mouth, and just like that, all the stress he’d been carrying vanished.
‘Honestly, the only reason I’m worried about her getting back at me is because I’ve got a guilty conscience, Alaric thought.
It was actually kind of refreshing to have something that could still bother him, and looking at that medicine… Well, maybe it wasn’t so bad after all.
The more Ophelia slathered on the medicine, the stronger, and nastier, the smell got. Alaric looked more and more miserable, while Ophelia was practically glowing with satisfaction.
“Ophelia, do I seriously have to use this for three whole days?” Alaric whined, feeling like he was already at his limit.
“Yep, three days. After that, your wound will be good as new, and all you’ll need to do is rest up,” Ophelia reassured him, giving him a quick rundown of the plan.
Alaric’s eyes narrowed sharply. ‘Wait, does that mean after three days, she won’t be here to look after me anymore?’ The thought hit him out of nowhere, leaving a sting of disappointment.
For a split second, he felt strangely empty inside, an unexpected wave of loss washing over him.
“All done,” Ophelia said, finishing up the bandaging.
But Alaric just sat there, totally spaced out. Ophelia gave his shoulder a gentle tap and teased, “Come on, are you really that dramatic about a little medicine?”
Sure, the stuff looked pretty nasty and smelled awful, but it actually worked.
She honestly never expected Alaric to be so grossed out by it.
‘Why is he just sitting there like that?’ Ophelia thought, a little amused.
Alaric came back to himself and looked up at her. Their eyes locked, and with Ophelia leaning in so close to talk, it almost looked like she was about to lean in for a kiss.
His eyes flicked to her lips, a teasing smile playing there. “Ophelia, are you trying to steal a kiss?”
He spread his arms wide, looking way too ready. “Come on, I’d love that.”
“Smack!”
Ophelia plastered a piece of gauze right over his face.
“Just go wash up and get some sleep. You need the rest, especially for that brain of yours,” Ophelia tossed
