Chapter 329
Chapter 329
Three days passed in the blink of an eye.
Alaric’s wound had indeed healed.
After giving him a quick check-up, Ophelia finally relaxed a little. “Looks like you’re healing up pretty well. No need to stay in bed all day. Try moving around a little.”
“Will you keep me company, Ophelia?” Alaric looked at her with puppy eyes, full of hope.
“You don’t need me looking after you around the clock anymore, so I can’t be by your side every minute. But I’ll drop by every day to check in on you,” Ophelia said. Just as she finished, someone knocked on the door.
“Come in,” Ophelia called out. Ella poked her head in. “Boss, everything’s here.”
“Alright, take it to the room across the hall,” Ophelia said, gesturing for Ella to go ahead.
Ella pulled her head back and closed the door behind her.
After giving Alaric a few more reminders, Ophelia turned to leave, calling out over her shoulder, “I’ve got some things to take care of today, but I’ll come by after work.”
Before he knew it, she was already out of the room.
Watching the door close again, Alaric shook his head helplessly.
‘She didn’t even look back at me before leaving. That girl is so cold, Alaric thought.
Before he could finish that thought, the door swung open again. Alaric’s eyes lit up, only to fall flat a moment later.
“Mr. Caldwell,” Ryan said as he walked in, carrying a stack of files.
“Just put them down,” Alaric said, sounding a little annoyed.
Ryan was totally lost. ‘Why does the boss look so grumpy?’
‘His injury’s healed, so what’s with the bad vibes?’
‘Did I do something to tick him off? Nah, couldn’t be me…’ Ryan thought.

Meanwhile, after changing her clothes, Ophelia headed out of the hospital with Ella.
Today was the Rowle Group’s big bidding day. She definitely had to show up in person.
Soon enough, the two of them made their way to the Rowle Group’s boardroom.
Oliver was calling the shots at the head of the table, with Asher and Henry flanking him on either side.
Asher spotted Ophelia coming in and shot her a frown. “Why did you show up?”
“Uncle, I’m here for the meeting,” Ophelia said as she took the main seat opposite Oliver at the conference table.
Ella sat down beside Ophelia, laying out the files one by one.
Anyone could tell at a glance. Ophelia was here as the representative of Maplewood Capital, attending the meeting with them.
“Ophelia, what’s this all about?” Henry asked, his tone easy, a curious look on his face.
But a shadow passed through his eyes, gone before anyone could catch it.
“Let’s keep it business. Since this is a bidding meeting, maybe you should call our boss Ms. Draven instead,” Ella said, chin held high, sounding a bit smug.
“What did you just say?” Asher shot back, his eyes wide in disbelief.
“She’s Rowan Draven!” Ella announced, practically beaming with pride.
Asher and Henry were both floored, totally blindsided. For a moment, they just couldn’t process it.
