Chapter 330

But he never imagined the person he’d been chasing after was actually the daughter the Rowle family had just brought back.

To him, this was nothing short of humiliation.

“That’s not the point,” Ophelia said with a casual shrug. “It doesn’t matter what my last name is. This is business. Even if I was still a Rowle, you’d have to prove you deserve the project.”

She raised her brows, pretending to be puzzled. “Uncle, did you really think I’d just hand over a deal for nothing?”

“I…” Asher was totally stumped, left speechless by her comeback. ‘Damn, she really shut me down, he thought.

He wanted to say something, but honestly, that was exactly what he’d been hoping for. Ophelia had already blocked every escape route. He didn’t even get a chance to argue.

“Guess that’s what happens when you’re raised away from the family, no loyalty at all,” Asher spat, his words dripping with contempt.

“Wow, talk about double standards, Uncle,” Ophelia retorted, her voice laced with sarcasm. “If we’re really family, then why did you insist on giving the opportunity to the branch instead of the main company? Did family mean anything to you back then?”

“Hmph,” Asher said, his face turning livid. “So you two are in cahoots, scheming against your own uncle now?”

“Oh? What do you mean by that, Uncle?” Ophelia raised an eyebrow, her gaze dripping with sarcasm.

‘So he’s backing down already? How lame,’ Ophelia thought to herself.

“You two are siblings, always in cahoots. What’s the point of this bidding if you’re just going to gang up on us?” Asher snapped, barely holding back his anger. “Don’t tell me you planned to mess with us from the start?”

“Look, it’s just Maplewood Capital and the Rowle Group in this bid, and anyone with eyes can see whose proposal stands out. So, Uncle, your concerns are really unnecessary,” Ophelia said with a casual shrug, making it clear this was going to be a fair competition.

“Of course, if you’re that worried, Uncle…” Ophelia paused deliberately, then added with a cool, matter-of-fact tone, “You can always just drop out. Honestly, I’d be happy to sign with Oliver and skip the drama.”

‘You weren’t even supposed to be involved, but you insisted on joining in. If you quit now, you’d actually be doing everyone a favor,’ Ophelia thought to herself.

“What kind of attitude is that? Don’t think I won’t…” Asher snapped, but Henry quickly cut him off before he
