Chapter 334
Chapter 334
The thing is, you and Mr. Caldwell just look like such a good match.
“Guess it’s all up to fate,” Ophelia replied casually, not really wanting to get into it with Ella and just letting the topic drop.
“Why am I more worried about this than you are…” Ella shook her head, then suddenly paused. “Wait, Boss, what did you just say?”
“Nothing,” Ophelia replied, not wanting to repeat herself. It was just a casual chat anyway.
Ella’s eyes widened in excitement. “So you’re actually starting to see Mr. Caldwell differently? You always swore there was nothing between you two, that it was impossible, but now you’re talking about fate!”
‘Whoa, does this mean there’s actually a chance?’ Ella thought.
“Ella, sometimes I seriously wonder if you’re a spy sent by Alaric,” Ophelia teased. She couldn’t help but think, ‘ Why does she always seem more invested in Alaric than in me?’
“Of course not!” Ella said, lifting her chin with pride. “Come on, my heart’s always with you, Boss. That’s why I’ m so worked up about this! I mean, Mr. Caldwell is basically the golden boy of Dunhollow. Missing out on him would be such a waste.”
Ophelia’s eyes grew serious. “Sure, he’s got great qualities, but that’s not what matters to me when I choose
someone.”
“I know, Boss! What I’m saying is, out of everyone in Dunhollow, Mr. Caldwell is the only one who’s actually good enough for you. Why let someone else snatch him up when you two are such a perfect match? Of course I want you to go for it!” Ella said, grinning from ear to ear.
“Plus, what really matters is, you can totally tell Mr. Caldwell is crazy about you. He’d do anything to protect you.” Ella added.
“Alright, let’s drop it,” Ophelia said, half amused, half exasperated.
She couldn’t help thinking, ‘If I ever really ended up with Alaric, Ella would probably be the one taking it the hardest.’
Ella flashed Ophelia a cheerful smile. She had a hunch her boss was already falling for Alaric, even if Ophelia hadn’t noticed it herself yet, or maybe she was just still tangled up in her own feelings.
Anyway, it was a good sign. Ella decided to just wait quietly and keep her fingers crossed for some happy
news.
Ophelia lowered her eyes, staring at the swirling steam rising from her coffee cup. As the warmth drifted up, her mind started to wander.
‘That man who always shows his softer side in front of me… Maybe I’m not as resistant to him as I used to be, Ophelia thought to herself.

As the sun was setting, Ophelia had just stepped out of the office when her phone rang. It was Tristan.
“Ophelia, come straight home after work. Asher and Henry are already here, and I’ve told your dad to come too,” Tristan said bluntly.
Ophelia arched her brow. She immediately understood what this was about.
“Okay, Grandpa, I’ll head back right away,” Ophelia replied, then hung up.
Asher and Henry were both back, and since Tristan specifically said “after work,” it probably means they already told him everything that happened today.
‘Not as dumb as I thought, Ophelia muttered, a hint of disdain curling at her lips.
Tristan was bound to find out about today sooner or later, but it hit differently if they were the ones to come
