Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 338

Chapter 338

Chapter 338

So Zoe’s talk about being singled out or wronged? That just doesn’t hold water.

He’d even thought about giving Zoe one last shot. If she’d just admitted what she did, maybe he would’ve considered letting her go. But she just wouldn’t own up to it, stubborn to the end.

Zoe’s heart sank. She felt like she’d just fallen off a cliff. She knew exactly what Oliver was saying with that cold look, and it hit her like a punch to the gut.

‘Maybe I had a way out before, Zoe thought, despair washing over her, ‘but with that last choice, I slammed the door shut on myself. There’s no turning back now.’

“Zoe, why?” Victoria’s eyes were rimmed with red, her heart aching.

After all, she’d raised Zoe like a precious gem, always thinking she was sweet, kind, and well-behaved. But now, Victoria couldn’t help but wonder, ‘How did Zoe end up like this?’

“Why, you ask?” Zoe let out a bitter, mocking laugh, her eyes blazing with hurt and resentment.

“Ever since Ophelia came back, everything in this house changed. Now that you have your real daughter, do you even care about the girl you took in? Is there even a place for me in this family anymore? I’m just the extra, the outsider nobody needs.”

“No one ever saw you as an outsider. You’ll always be a daughter of the Rowle family,” Victoria’s voice trembled with pain. “Even with Ophelia back, you’re still my daughter. That’s never changed, not for a second.”

“Stop pretending,” Zoe snapped, her voice thick with sarcasm. “And don’t forget-”

“Zoe, have you forgotten? Even if you don’t share the Rowle name, you still have to call her Aunt Victoria,” Ophelia said coldly, giving Zoe a sharp look. “You two are related by blood.”

They were family by blood. Even if the Rowle family hadn’t officially adopted her, Zoe would have grown up here as their niece.

‘What does she mean by “outsider”? Did the Rowle family do anything wrong by raising her?’ Ophelia wondered, frowning.

Zoe’s face turned even paler, caught off guard by Ophelia’s words. She glanced at Victoria, a flicker of uncertainty in her eyes. ‘That’s right. Even if she’s not my mom, she’s still my aunt, Zoe realized, her thoughts swirling.

“That’s not how it is at all,” Scarlett said, pursing her lips in clear disapproval. “Ophelia is your real daughter, and after all the effort you put into finding her, of course you favor her. But just because Zoe isn’t your biological child doesn’t mean it’s fair to treat her like she’s second best.”

“Nothing in her life changed just because I came back. Scarlett, where exactly is this favoritism you’re talking about?” Ophelia shot her a cold, cutting glare. “Or are you saying that after all these years of raising her, it’s somehow my parents’ fault she turned into a backstabber?”

Scarlett deflated a little, her voice dropping to a mumble. “Honestly, things really did change after you came back.”
