Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 346

Chapter 346

Chapter 346

With everything settled, everyone trickled out of the old house, leaving only Asher and Scarlett behind in the quiet halls.

Henry gave Oliver a brooding glare, then left with Claire in tow.

Henry knew he had a lot to mull over once he got home.

“Oliver, what made you shake things up like this all of a sudden?” Adrian couldn’t help but ask as they stepped out of the old house.

“Ophelia and I talked it over. Some things just need to be settled once and for all,” Oliver replied, his eyes dark and full of meaning.

Adrian paused, then sighed, a hint of sadness in his voice.

He finally understood. It hurt, but he couldn’t deny that Ophelia and Oliver had made the right call.

Meanwhile, Ophelia and Alaric were on their way to the hospital.

“How come you showed up at the old house?” Ophelia asked, still a little surprised to see Alaric there out of the blue.

“I was worried you wouldn’t go to the hospital,” Alaric said, giving her his best puppy eyes as he rested his chin on Ophelia’s shoulder, looking adorably needy.

Ophelia shot him an annoyed look and pushed him away. “Can you just sit still for once?”

‘This guy is always goofing off, Ophelia thought, rolling her eyes.

“Ophelia, you’re not gonna leave me all alone at the hospital, right?” Alaric pouted, looking so pitiful, like a puppy about to be left behind.

Seeing him like this, Ophelia was convinced he really just wanted to see her, not for anything else.

“Alaric, you’re the CEO of Caldwell Group, you know. Is it really okay for you to keep playing the sad puppy like this?” Ophelia said, exasperated, rolling her eyes.

Alaric shot back, completely unapologetic, “Ophelia, you won’t even give my feelings a chance. How am I not supposed to feel sorry for myself?”

Ophelia hesitated for a second, then said softly, “Thanks… for today.”

No matter what, she really did owe him one for today.

His showing up was totally unexpected, but he came anyway and even mentioned their engagement. If he’d kept insisting, Grandpa might not have forced her, but he’d definitely try to persuade her, and in the end, all that pressure would fall on her shoulders.

But Alaric actually cared about how she felt, so he purposely changed the subject and let the whole marriage thing drop.

“Ophelia…” Alaric straightened up, his eyes serious as he looked at her. “Didn’t I tell you before? ‘Thank you’ isn’ t something you can just throw around.”

Ophelia blinked, confused. He looked dead serious, but the way he said it just sounded kind of odd.

Ophelia arched an eyebrow, playfully testing him. “So, you want a thank-you gift?”

“Then… is the thank-you gift you, Ophelia?” Alaric gave her that intense look, clearly hoping she’d say yes.

Ophelia’s lips twitched. ‘Wait, is he actually serious right now, or just trying to mess with me?’ she thought, a little thrown off.

“Ophelia, do you remember saying you owed me one?” Alaric asked, playing with the ends of her hair. His gentle tone sent a shiver through her.
