Chapter 350

Chapter 350

Even if she didn’t care about him right now, it didn’t matter to him. He could wait. He just needed to try even harder to win her over.

Alaric lay back down, his usual playful grin returning. “Alright, I’m ready. Why don’t you join me, Ophelia?” “Smack!”

Ophelia smacked him on the forehead, warning him with clear annoyance. “Close your eyes and go to sleep.” ‘Seriously, what kind of nonsense is that? Is he channeling his inner rogue or something?’ Ophelia thought, totally exasperated.

“Ophelia, you promised you’d stay with me tonight. Are you really going to go back on your word?” Alaric gave her a pitiful look, practically begging like a kicked puppy.

“That was only because you were injured and I didn’t dare put up a fight in case I hurt you. Now that you’re fine, you can sleep on your own,” Ophelia shot him a firm glare, making it clear she wasn’t budging this time. With that, Ophelia headed over to put the cleaned-up medical tools back in the cabinet.

Alaric’s eyes followed her every move, a faint smile tugging at his lips before he even realized it.

It felt just like an old married couple, cozy, familiar, and with that sweet hint of romance in the air.

After Ophelia finished putting everything away, she turned around and met Alaric’s deep gaze, catching that faint smile at the corner of his lips.

“What are you smiling at?” Ophelia gave him a look, not getting what he was smiling about. ‘Seriously, what’s so funny?’ she thought, rolling her eyes.

“Nothing. Just seeing you makes me happy. As long as you’re here, I’m satisfied,” Alaric said, grinning, not even bothering to hide how happy he was.

“This is a hospital, you know,” Ophelia said, shooting him a look that was equal parts exasperated and amused. ‘Seriously, who’s actually happy to be stuck here?’ she thought, rolling her eyes.

Alaric just chuckled, keeping his thoughts to himself.

If he could, he honestly wouldn’t mind dragging out his stay, just so Ophelia would have to keep him company a little longer.

Alaric didn’t even notice, but his little sulk from earlier had already been soothed away before he knew it.

Ophelia walked back over and tucked him in, saying, “It’s getting late. You should get some rest.”

She sat down nearby, planning to stick around until he was asleep before heading back to her own room.

Even though she was fine now, she’d kept the room across the hall just in case, for her own convenience while taking care of him. Now that things had calmed down, she could finally go over and get some rest.

But before she knew it, she ended up falling asleep with her head resting on the edge of his bed.

Alaric turned his head to look at her, couldn’t help but smile and shake his head.

‘She keeps saying she’s fine, but look at her. She just dozed off sitting right there,’ Alaric thought, a little amused.

He got up, scooped her into his arms, and settled her onto the bed before curling up next to her, wrapping her up in his embrace.

Every time he held her close, it was like his heart finally found peace. ‘If only I could freeze this moment and never let go, he thought.

The next morning.

Sunlight streamed in, gently waking the person lying in the hospital bed.

Ophelia slowly opened her eyes, feeling a bit lost for a moment. ‘Huh? Where am I?’ she wondered, still groggy.
