Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 351

Chapter 351

Chapter 351

‘Is she seriously asleep right here?’ Ophelia wondered, a bit stunned.

“Wasn’t it because Ophelia just couldn’t resist cuddling with me and insisted on sharing my bed?” Alaric teased, deliberately adding, “After all, this is my hospital bed.”

He was basically saying, ‘You snuggled up to me yourself. It’s not like I could say no.’

Ophelia’s eyes flickered briefly. Something about his words just felt off to her.

‘Even if I dozed off here, wouldn’t I have just ended up sleeping at the bedside?’ she thought.

“Was this your doing?” Ophelia quickly caught on. ‘He must’ve carried me onto the bed while I was asleep, she thought.

“Ophelia was asleep. Of course I couldn’t just let you sleep at the bedside like that,” Alaric said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Ophelia grumbled quietly, feeling a bit annoyed. “Couldn’t you have just woken me up?”

“No way,” Alaric said, shaking his head with exaggerated seriousness. “For all I know, maybe you fell asleep on purpose just to stick around. Imagine if I woke you up, wouldn’t that break your heart?”

Ophelia couldn’t help but roll her eyes, totally speechless. ‘He’s really a master at flipping the script, she thought.

“Gee, thanks,” Ophelia muttered, giving up on arguing with him. She just shoved him lightly and said, “Let go. I’m getting up.”

‘Seriously, it’s like trying to reason with a brick wall, she thought.

Alaric released her, amusement dancing in his eyes, and got up right after her.

“Why are you up too?” Ophelia gave him a sidelong look, her brows furrowing.

Alaric walked over to the closet, grabbed some clothes, then turned to Ophelia, pretending to look frail.

“Maybe I didn’t sleep well last night. I’m feeling a bit drained. Since my attending physician can’t stay with me at the hospital, I’ve decided to go to work with her. That way, she can keep an eye on me at all times.”

With every mention of “attending physician,” Ophelia’s expression grew darker.

‘Is he seriously guilt-tripping me right now?’ Ophelia thought.

‘So if I say no to him coming to the office, does that mean I don’t care about his well-being?’ she wondered. Ophelia couldn’t help but roll her eyes. “Come on, we’re in a hospital. What could possibly go wrong?”

‘Whatever happens, the hospital’s got you covered,’ she thought, exasperated.

“You’re my attending physician, so you’re responsible for me, end of story,” Alaric said with absolute conviction, then strode off to get changed.

Ophelia couldn’t help but roll her eyes and turned back to her hospital room.

After changing and freshening up a little, Ophelia made her way downstairs and out of the hospital.

But the moment she stepped into the parking lot, she spotted Alaric already leaning against her car, grinning from ear to ear as he waved at her. “Wow, Ophelia, you’re quick!”

Good thing he figured she’d try to slip away, or she would’ve left him in the dust at the hospital.

Ophelia sighed and shot back, dripping with sarcasm, “Not as fast as you, apparently.”
