Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 353

Chapter 353

Chapter 353

But Alaric was already having breakfast, so Ophelia didn’t dwell on it.

After a while, there was a knock at the door.

Ophelia glanced up at the doorway, her voice calm as she said, “Come in.”

The door opened, and Ella led George in. “Boss, Mr. Brown is here.”

Ophelia blinked in surprise and blurted out, “Why aren’t you guys in the conference room?”

“Huh? Wait, isn’t this…” Ella hesitated, a little confused. “Alaric told me to bring Mr. Brown here, so I thought you knew too, Boss. But I guess you didn’t.”

George caught sight of Alaric and raised an eyebrow, seeming to get the picture.

“Doesn’t matter. Since everyone’s here, we can just do this in your office,” George said, putting extra emphasis on “everyone’ s here,” with a hint of sarcasm in his voice as he shot Alaric a teasing glance.

It was pretty clear this was Alaric’s idea.

George was honestly surprised that Ophelia would have Alaric at her company. The fact that the two of them didn’t seem to mind being seen together put him in a bit of a mood.

But if Alaric wanted to play games, George was more than ready to play along.

Ophelia gave Alaric a look, feeling both annoyed and helpless.

“Alaric, are you seriously a child?” she muttered under her breath, unable to stop herself from rolling her eyes.

Alaric smirked and raised an eyebrow at her. “Relax, I’m not here to steal your business secrets. Why don’t you take it to the conference room? Or I can just step out if you want.”

Ophelia glared at him, gritting her teeth. “Can you just shut up?”

‘What’s the use of arguing now?’ she thought, exasperated.

With that, Ophelia stood and said to Ella, “Could you take Mr. Brown to the conference room? I’ll join you in a sec.”

Not that she didn’t trust Alaric, but work stuff needed to be handled properly.

Ella nodded sheepishly, knowing she’d screwed up, and hurried George out.

Before leaving, George gave Alaric a look loaded with meaning.

Alaric stayed totally unfazed, even arching his brow at George in open defiance.

George’s gaze deepened, then he turned and walked out of the office.

Alaric’s face grew cold as well, a chill flickering in his eyes.

“Get some rest,” Ophelia told him, then turned to leave.

Alaric glanced up at her, a playful glint in his eyes. “Sure, go on.”

He was putting on his best innocent act, and Ophelia couldn’t help but make a face, feeling a little exasperated.

‘Yeah, keep up the act, she thought.

After Ophelia left, Alaric sprawled out on the couch, propping his left leg over his right, drumming his long fingers on the armrest. He looked completely relaxed, like he didn’t have a single worry.

He hadn’t come here to keep tabs on anyone. They were about to talk business, and it didn’t matter what his status was. This wasn’t his scene.

Still, he wanted George to get the message: some people just weren’t for him to set his sights on.

Meanwhile, in the conference room, everyone had just taken their seats.

George was the first to speak, with a hint of amusement in his voice. “Didn’t think Mr. Caldwell would show up too.” “He…” Ophelia hesitated for a moment before replying, “He was just bored at the hospital and wanted to get out for a bit.” George could see right through what Alaric was up to, but hearing Ophelia’s explanation for him made something heavy settle in his chest.
