Chapter 365

“Handle it yourselves. Why bother me with this?” Alaric’s voice was low, and the tension in the room was suffocating.

Ryan’s face turned pale. ‘Crap, the boss is in a bad mood, he thought.

“Yes, I’ll take care of it right away,” Ryan said, then bolted out of the room, not daring to waste a second.

Alaric looked down at his breakfast, clearly in a foul mood. Breakfast with Ophelia was supposed to be the plan.

Meanwhile, Ophelia arrived at New City Tower.

“Boss, you skipped breakfast?” Ella raised an eyebrow at Ophelia, her tone teasing and her eyes glinting with mischief. Overslept, huh? What were you up to last night?”

“I was at Caldwell Group, watching over Alaric while he burned the midnight oil,” Ophelia said bluntly. Not like Ella didn’t already know.

Ella’s eyes widened, her tone turning serious. “Alaric Caldwell is still sick and working overtime? Is Caldwell Group in that much trouble?”

“It’s not that bad, just a lot going on,” Ophelia shrugged, sitting down and digging into her breakfast without saying more.

“I’ll go make you some coffee, Boss,” Ella said, dropping the subject and heading off to brew some for her.

As Ophelia ate, her mind drifted to Bianca.

She’d bumped into Bianca early that morning, and Bianca had acted like she didn’t even know her, all high and mighty.’ Guess that’s what being a celebrity does to you, Ophelia thought.

‘But what was Bianca doing at Caldwell Group, saying she had work to discuss? What’s that supposed to mean?’ Ophelia wondered.

“Boss? Boss?” Ella’s voice snapped Ophelia out of her thoughts.

Ella set the coffee down, looking puzzled. “What’s got you so spaced out, Boss?”

“It’s nothing.” Ophelia glanced up at Ella. “Did you get around to revising yesterday’s proposal?”

“Already on it,” Ella replied.

“Alright, get to it,” Ophelia said.

“Yes, Boss,” Ella answered.

Once Ella was gone, Ophelia took a slow sip of her coffee, her thoughts drifting as she stared into the cup.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, Ophelia had just clocked out when she got a call from Rowle Manor.

She wasn’t the least bit surprised, simply agreeing and smiling faintly as she hung up.

“Boss, you’re heading back to Rowle Manor again? Did something happen?” Ella asked, her curiosity written all over her face.

“Yeah, Bianca’s back,” Ophelia said, waving her hand as she got into her car and drove off.

Ella blinked, a little lost, and mumbled under her breath, “Bianca? You mean that famous actress?”

Soon, Ophelia arrived at Rowle Manor.

To her surprise, her uncle’s family wasn’t there, and neither was her older brother Oliver.

But she didn’t think much of it, just smiled and went over to greet Tristan. “Grandpa.”

“Ophelia, you’re here,” Tristan said, his face breaking into a warm smile. “Bianca’s back, so I asked everyone to come by and say hello. But your uncle and your brother are tied up at the office, so they said they wouldn’t be able to come.”

“I know, we ran into each other this morning,” Ophelia nodded, a faint smile tugging at her lips.

“You two met already?” Tristan asked, sounding curious. “Where did you see each other?”

“I went to Caldwell Group to pick up my car this morning, and Bianca said she had some work to discuss, so we just bumped into each other for a quick hello,” Ophelia explained with a calm smile.
