Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 376

Chapter 376

Chapter 376

“Thought what?” Ophelia blinked, a little confused. ‘What on earth is he getting at now?’ she couldn’t help but wonder. Alaric suddenly stepped in, pinning Ophelia between himself and the wall. His voice was low and teasing right by her ear as he said, “Honestly, I thought you’d be jealous, thinking I showed up with another woman.”

Ophelia rolled her eyes, chin held high. “You can bring whoever you want. Why would I care?” she retorted, refusing to admit even a hint of jealousy.

Alaric wasn’t convinced at all, his eyes dark and intense as he fixed his gaze on her. “Really, Ophelia? Not even a little jealous? I saw your expression. You totally looked upset.”

“I was not,” Ophelia mumbled, turning her head away, instinctively avoiding his eyes.

Alaric’s lips curled into a playful smirk as he leaned in, his face just inches from hers. “If you’re really not jealous, Ophelia, then why won’t you even look at me?”

‘She’s so flustered right now, but she just refuses to admit it, Alaric thought, amused.

Ophelia instinctively tried to back away, but she was already pressed up against the wall. There was nowhere left to go. Her heart fluttered unexpectedly, and she instinctively pushed at him, protesting, “Can you just stand back and talk like a normal person?”

‘What’s with the close-up?’ Ophelia thought, flustered.

“Answer me first, Ophelia,” Alaric pressed on teasingly, his eyes glinting with mischief.

‘She’s clearly avoiding me, yet she still refuses to admit it, Alaric thought, finding her reaction rather entertaining.

“Come on, let me go. I’m not jealous,” Ophelia snapped, shooting him an annoyed glare. But her eyes kept dodging his, totally betraying her true feelings.

Right now, her mind was in total chaos; she couldn’t even process what he was asking.

Her rational mind insisted she had no reason to be jealous. She wasn’t supposed to feel this way.

“Ophelia, don’t you care about me at all?” Alaric sounded genuinely disappointed, his eyes brimming with hurt as he looked at her.

“Can you just act normal for a second?” Ophelia muttered, rolling her eyes as she gave Alaric another little shove. “Let me go, I want to head back inside.”

She didn’t know why, but the air out here suddenly felt way too thin. She just wanted to get back to the crowd where things felt less weird.

But Alaric caught her hand and pressed it right over his heart, putting on an exaggeratedly hurt expression. “Ophelia, my heart is aching here.”

‘She definitely cares about me. She’s just too stubborn to say it out loud, Alaric thought, both amused and helpless.

“Hey, what are you doing…” Ophelia tried to pull away, but Alaric’s grip only tightened, holding her firmly in place.

Her hand was pressed against his chest, feeling the steady, powerful thump of his heartbeat, and the solid muscle beneath her palm was impossible to ignore. A faint blush crept up Ophelia’s cheeks.

The atmosphere between them turned undeniably intimate, and Ophelia suddenly felt all kinds of flustered.

“Alaric, back off a little, will you?” Ophelia blurted out, her heart in a frenzy and her cheeks growing even hotter.
